Best nns for Josephine

Josephine had never been on my list but a friend suggested it (I'm not pg yet but she shares my interest in names) because my wonderful grandfather is named Joseph. However, Jo, Joey, and Josie have never been my favorite nns. I think they are fine, but they're just not quite my style. I thought Posey/Posy was fun and cute.

Unfortunately, based on my poll results, Posey/Posy as a nn for Josephine isn't a favorite for many people.

Is there a specific reason that it's nms for many of you?

What is your favorite nn for Josephine?

Are there other nns for Josephine other than Jo, Joey, Josie, Posey, Posy, or Fifi?

Thanks!

Posey/Posy just made me immediately think of the slang term "poser" ... do kids still use this? LOL Not my favorite nn, and not just for that reason, but I can't quite put my finger on what else I dislike about it, KWIM?

Other nn possibilities might be Jovie, Sophie, Jess, Seph (like Steph), Fin, Fina (fee-na)

i think Joy would be a good nn for Josephine, it is not traditional, but that's quite alright! i like Posy/Posey!! tho may be best as you pet name for her.

another possibility is, Sunny/Suni.. can almost see Shine in Josephine! or perhaps, Seph, or there's also Jody/Jodie. i like the idea of Phina! or Phoena (like spelling for Phoebe or Phoenix). this would be a strong contender for me! ooo i really like Phina/Phoena!!! (but that's me.)

Joy,
Sunny/Suni,
Seph,
Jody/Jodie,
Phina/Phoena,

hth & gl2u!!!

Fina sounds really cute but thought I'd throw out that Fina is a brand of gasoline - at least in TX.

Thanks, Mona.

I didn't know that Fina is a brand of gasoline :-( Flutterdance suggested Phina - maybe that's better?!?

Very creative with the fn/mn nn combos! I love Sela/Selah. I'll have to start thinking about mns!

I know you're not that fond of the "Joe's", but one you left out was Jody, which I think is kind of classic. It was my grandmother's name, as there have been many Josephine's in my family. In my generation, it's used only as a middle name (by my brother and cousin.) Maybe you could use it as a middle name. Or, use it as a first name, but call your (future) daughter by her middle name. ...just a thought. :)
