Apparently, it's now become un-PC to support a name someone else here might dislike (and here I thought the opposite was generally the rule ... live and learn! LOL).
After replying to a post about real-life family and friends giving very negative comments concerning the name a family had already chosen for their child, I was reported for "personally attacking" cantrellja because she happens to dislike the name as well. Hmmm. I'm confused.
Apparently, cantrellja took these comments to mean that she had little style or taste based on the simple fact that she doesn't care for the name in question. Again, I'm puzzled. I replied to clarify, pointing out that I had been responding to the original poster's personal situation -- in no way considering or addressing cantrellja (and why would I? It wasn't she who posted the question! LOL) -- and that I hadn't even read any other replies prior to posting (when in fact, there WERE NONE to be read

Kelli-
I'm stunned. I can't believe somebody reported your post. You are one of the most supportive people on this board. I also can't believe the "powers that be" aren't savvy enough to be able to read the whole thread & see you did NOTHING wrong.
The whole POINT of this board is to get feedback on names. Reality is not everyone is going to like every name. And if somebody doesn't realize that, then that's their problem not ours.
Lets all grow-up get get over it.

Thanks, Andi. You have no idea how much that means to me. And yes, the "powers that be" thing is what prompted me to post this (silly and trivial as I know it seems). It was just so out of left field, and I couldn't believe the "scolding" I got (from those same powers LOL) for trying to simply stand up for myself after what I felt to truly be a very personal attack (and yet I wasn't the one that ran to them, so apparently that makes me guilty ROFL).
Still, not trying to dwell on it, but I honestly can't believe that's what warrants a reprimand these days. Thought I'd warn everyone else to tread lightly. LOL
And thank you again for the kind words. I really needed them tonight. :)

Yeah I'm pretty much a regular over there, and the whole thing was a little crazy. There were a few contentious discussions spurred by someone who is not really a regular, but they were taking care of the bickering, getting it out of their systems, and it would have been fine. Apparently it was all reported by someone else entirely, seemingly with a bent on one particular person, the aforementioned woman who has never said anything even vaguely rude to anyone. She probably doesn't have a cynical bone in her body. She left because she was tired of the pettiness of the policing system. There were some annoying "big-brother" mod posts about watching our tone, which put everyone over the edge.
Let's all be nice, calm, and collected, people! We don't want a repeat of that! If there are two ways to interpret a post, interpret it in the most positive way you can. NOBODY HERE HAS EVIL MOTIVES, and let's keep it that way : )
