Big Surprise!

We had an ultrasound on Friday for "baby #3".. and guess what! We're having baby #3 AND #4!! Our second set!! (and last). We were told that couples who have fraternal twins are five to six times more likely than others to have fraternal twins again (don't know whether these are fraternal or identical but it seems likely they'd be fraternal). Charlotte and Adelle looked identical when they were born (DH said 'all babies look the same!' though) but now at close to four months they look less alike (though both have DHs big green eyes). We knew they weren't identical shortly after birth due to their different blood types.

So we've decided we'd like to find out the genders of our babies (but have to wait a while to do that accurately!) But we're really excited and surprised (and a little nervous, of course, about having so many babies in the house!) We haven't told our nieces yet (live with us, we're legal guardians) but I'm sure they'll be coming up with names for them.. but do you have any suggestions? I'm liking Ilana (EE-lah-na) lately, and also Alexander. Cassandra (nn Cassie)? Peter?

How exciting!!!

With Charlotte and Adelle (gorgeous BTW) I think a longer, more classy name would work. Before I suggest, do you use nicknames for your other kids? I do think that makes a big difference.

WOW!! Congratulations! That is going to be a lot of babies! How old will your babies be when the next set are due? I always wanted twins. I like all of the names you have suggested, except maybe Peter. Ilana is very pretty! I know quite a few Cassie's, if that matters to you, but I still think its a really cute name. Alexander is also nice, I love little Alex. Good Luck!!

I'm not sure if Ilana really 'fits' with Charlotte and Adele. Plus, I think there would be issues with people not knowing how to pronounce it. Cassandra is quite pretty. Other girl names that seem to 'fit' with your daughters' names include:

Bridget

Christina/Kristina

Emilia

Julia

Kathleen

Teresa/Tessa

For boys, I like Alexander a lot. Peter is okay. Other boys' names that I think might be

Hi - we don't use any nicknames for Charlotte and Adelle. My niece calls Adelle "Addie" sometimes which I like. They will be 10 or 11 months old when the second set are born - yikes! Twins are often born early so it's probable that they will come in late April rather than mid May. I told my sister and she mentioned that we have cousins who are 4 sets of twins and 1 single by the same parents! I haven't met them but I can't imagine!! No other twins that I know of in the family apart from great uncles.

I think everyone is right about classic English-language names. I think Alexander is a definite choice for a boy though (nn Alexy) and maybe Nikolai for DH. Girls names give me the most trouble - I love so many of them it seems. DH hates Cassandra it turns out - he really likes Jessica but I'm not so sure.

I love both Charlotte and Adelle and I think Peter would make a great addition to them! Personally I wouldnt use Cassandra or Alexander since you already have a C and an A.

I absolutely love Leona!! I haven't heard that name in so long and have never met anyone with it. It's important to me to have names which work well in English but DH and I don't want to lose our cultures completely. His family is from Russia and mine is Austrian. We have Adelle Renata and Charlotte Irina and maybe names that are acceptable as they are in either language is fine. Adelle is an example of that for German and English. We are doing the OPOL (one parent one language) system with the girls so they will be able to speak Russian, German, and English (hopefully).

Hello and congratulations (I think - LOL)!

Peter would be a great classic addition to Charlotte and Adelle! I would probably avoid Alexander and Cassandra because of the matching letter which could be confusing with the close age difference. I also think it takes away some of the distinctiveness of each name when parents "match" the letters.

I think the suggestion of Leona is excellent. Ilana doesn't seem the perfect fit for a fn but might make
