My husband and I are expecting our second in August. If we have a girl, we have already chosen Helen Harper Scout Taylor (LN Ellis). She will go by Harper. But, we are stumped with the boys name. Our son's name is Rhett Eli Aloysius and we can't find a name that is as masculin and straight-forward as Rhett. I am looking for something that isn't common or trendy sounding. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You're welcome. I appreciate your being so upfront about why you are choosing so many. I just know that we here in America are generally a 3 name system. Every form asks for 3 names, every scantron she ever fills out will have spaces for 3 names, etc. It's just awkward to have more names because everything is so systemitized now. I wish you luck...and I should tell you a woman I used to teach with named her daughter Harper and I think it's a delightful name for a little girl and will be just as appropriate when she becomes a woman later.

Just thought of 2 more names that goes wonderfully with Rhett- Deacon or Declan. They are both strong and sound very nice with Rhett IMO.

I was just wondering if you have a boy do you plan to use the names of Scott and Taylor for him in honor of your student who was killed or were you just planning on using it for a girl. If its a girl or what I like the name for a boy also what about the name of Addison Taylor Scott if thats not too long for your taste. I like the use of two or three middle names if I ever have a little girl her name is going to be Shelby Makenzie Julia (the Shelby is in honor of a friend of mine who passed away last year his name was Selby) and I wanted to honor him because he was like a dad to me

I like the name Neil for a boy - it is very honest and strong to me.
Good Luck!

I first heard the name Declan as the main character on the TV show "Mysterious Ways". I had never heard it before that. When I first saw it in print, I read it as D-clan rather than Deck-lan. Now I have seen it several times on different name polls and I really like it.
Other names that have a similar feel to Rhett:
Beau
Trey
Quinn
Garrett
Cole
Drake
Gage
Nash
Hale
Zane
