Boy names

Hello everyone. I have been on Ivillage for a long time now but depending what's going on in my life I'm kind of off and on. This is my first time to the baby names board though. We actually wont find out what we're having for another three weeks but if it's a girl we've had a name picked out for a while now. Boy names are so much harder though. They're either incredibly common or I just don't like them. Is anyone else running into this problem? I know I have plenty of time to decide but I just find it kind of comical that there aren't any boy names I just love. Preston is the only one that really sticks out and I don't even love that one.

I found boys names to be difficult too because I also wanted something not too popular but not too weird. Here's my list of faves from when I was deciding:

Gavin (obviously my favorite, lol)
Evan
Elijah
Drake
Phoenix
Draven
Sebastien
Declan
Maddox
Jaxon
Christian

Good luck!

The boy names I like are popular but they're classics that have been around forever.

i know exactly what your going through. I found out we are having a BOY! It is so hard to figure out a name that i like. its like when your not pregnant and trying you have names you like all picked out but now that im actually pregnant and know im having a boy its so hard. The names i liked before i dont now and i dont want something too common but not too weird either. We have a middle name picked out already which will be Michael after my brother. My husband for some reason loves the name Tyler but i cant get used to it myself. I dont think it sounds good with Michael.........Tyler Michael........hmmm i just dont agree with it. The names we have on our list are:

Caleb Michael
Ryan Michael
Owen Michael
Tyler Michael
Corbin Michael

Its just such a hard decision............when are you due?

I am due May 10th. Although that might change because my doctor thinks I'm further along than originally thought, I'll find that out in three weeks as well. The middle name for our son will be James because it is a family name. We are thinking either...

Everett James
Cayden James
or
Preston James

... I am just being so picky for some reason. If it is a girl though we have that name picked, it's going to be Addison Fatima (that's my middle name). We're just not sure exactly how we want to spell Addison. Boy names are definitely harder I think.

I think boys names are so much harder. When we found out we were having a boy the first time around we were like uhoh we better get to work on names (we had several girls names we liked, but couldn't pick a boys name.) We decided a dew days before he was born on Andrew Parker. That was my husband's middle name and then my middle name. We call him Parker which I love. We just found out we're having another boy and I am feeling so stuck on names!! Since Parker is a little unusual but not weird we want something along those lines for the next one. We don't want to pick a name that starts with P or J (both dh and my names start with J) though I really do like the name jacob for some reason this time. We have also thought about Tyler, but it doesn't seem quite right.

I am having the EXACT same issue. My husband and I didn't find out the gender of the baby so we're going to come up with one boy and one girl name. We already have a girl name... Madison, but we can't seem to agree when it comes boys. The only boy name I've come to like is Chase and he is absolutely opposed to it, but we can't think of any others that aren't COMMON and/or that we like. I'm going to stop by Borders tonight for another Baby Name book, just to ease my mind.

My husband and I are waiting to find out if we're having a boy this time to see if we can use what we picked out the first time and didn't get to use - Griffin. You can shorten it 2 ways into nicknames and it is certainly not very common.
Best of luck!
