boy or girl names starting with Ol...
| Tue, 11-08-2005 - 1:49pm |
I am looking for nice name for boy or girl (don't know who yet) but I need the name to start with O preferably with Ol since it should be in honor of a family member who passed away recently. I'd like the name to be easy on the kid - like not a source of teasing :)
and we happened to not like the name Olivia and we can't use Olga unfortunately..
Any suggestions?
thanks!!!

I don't really like Olivia either, but Olive's a lovely alternative. The only new one I can think of is Olave- Lady Olave Baden-Powell set up Girl Guides and Girl Scouts way back when. Oh, Olena, too, though that might have been said.
Other O names-
Girls:
Ottilie (seen this a few time in the UK birth annoucements recently, a medieval version of Odilia/Odelia, also Ottoline)
Orla
Oona, Oonagh (irish)
Octavia
Ofra, Ophrah
Onora
Ora
Orna
Boys:
Oran, Odran (from irish Odhran)
Odin
Ogden (like Ogden Nash, the poet)
Oisin (pron. Osheen, actually a quite popular name in Ireland)
Omer, Omar
Ori
Oren
Otto
Ormond
FWIW, my favourites are Olive, Ottilie and Oona for the girls, and Otto, Oisin and Orran from the boys.'
Good Luck!
-Sisi.
