Well my parents named me Jaye. I would consider that it counts even though it was made feminine with the e.

I really don't understand this attitude at all. I don't see why once a boy's name is used for a girl it because untouchable for a boy. Is it so traumatizing for a boy to have a name that is also used by a girl? And why are boy's names so sacred that girls don't deserve them? I know TONS of people who have names that "belong" to the opposite gender (women named Michael and Kyle and Ryan and men named Ashley and Kelly and Brooke, etc) and none of them are traumatized. In fact, most really like their names.

If you don't like boys to have names that are popular with girls, don't give your sons one of those names. No one is telling you that you have to pick a name that is a gender bender. But what authority do you have to tell people they are not allowed to use these names for girls? People are here to ask for opinions, so give yours - tell them that you don't like the concept - but you don't have to be so rude and bossy about it.

I don't believe the response was bossy or rude at all. The point is well taken. Are you going to name your boy Sally? Catherine? Jane? Elizabeth? Look at the etymology- names aren't unisex. They are traditionally male or traditionally female. Giving a girl a boy's name makes it look like you didn't get the boy you wanted.
