How about the name "Barin" for a boys first name, and couple that with "Von" for the middle name?

Nope. Barin, sounding like Baron? And with Von in the middle, he's just inches from a Baron Von Trapp sort of reference, poor kid!

If Brian really wants to use his name for the baby (not a practice I'm fond of myself), I'm going to suggest that you just use Brian as a middle name. I think Brian's stil a bit dated to reuse as a first name, although I do know an almost 2 year old Brian (who rarely gets called Brian!).

The neighbor kid's dad's name is Brian. The kid's name is Brian Benjamin, and they call him Ben. If he wants to use his name, then just use it, maybe as a mn or as a first name and use the mn instead.

Brian is a nice name, but two people with the same name in the same house can be confusing.

sorry, I don't like it. I knew one a few years back, was in his teens at the time. it was spelled Baron

I don't know what it says the meaning is in the baby name books or sites, but it's too close to the word "barren" which means "empty"

and - baron and brian - nah.

good luck though

Uh, bad idea. First Barin looks so visually close to Brian that many people will think they are the same (as some of the previous posters have). Also Barin von _____ is just bad, bad badd. Baron Von Trapp, Baron von Munchhausen, Baron von Donut (a character in a book I've seen) etc etc, makes for an easy target to make fun of rather than a distinguished name.

Like the others said if your DH wants to us a for of Brian, use it as a mn.

Its really NMSAA. To me, Barin sounds like a made up name, and pairing it with Von seem a bit pretentious, like three times removed European royalty or something. How about Barrett or Bennett? They have the same sound, but are probably more mainstreamed. Just MHO.

I do not care for Barin at all. It sounds stuck up or something. I think using Brian as a mn is a great idea. My husband's name is Samuel Brian and I think that it sounds great together! Just a thought!
