I think that when guys talk about "the future" and endeavor to suggest the names they have always wanted to use for a child, they tend to sound a little mad.

Suggestions I have heard from guys daydreaming about (invariably) their first sons:

Ninja
Destro (like from G.I. Joe)
Spartacus Prime (Transformers meet Spartacus--lovely!)
Boxer
Scourge
Egon (for Ghostbusters, not the Australian painter)

So, er... there you have it. Pay it no mind. I'm sure they think that women daydreaming about little Emmalines and Kimberlyns are just as ridiculous.

I guess I must be weird, cause I kinda like it. I mean it is very different... but he can always go by Alan..and you can call him Bronc. But I do understand how difficult it is to deal with a husband who's made up his mind about a silly name..I'm going through it now. (lol). Good luck.

What I would do is say nothing now and then when your married and pregnant and he brings it up just say no!! Ha Ha. There's always a chance he will change his mind between now and then.

I don't think this is something to worry about it now. At least if you are not pregnant. Over time his opinion might change. I would just conitnue to share your thoughts on names while he shares his. Or....maybe make it a middle name. Try to compromise. Good luck.

If all else fails on a name... (and note that this is done lightly and lovingly, not with cruel intentions) I tell my DH that he got to pick the last name, so I get final say on the first name. I think that's fair enough!! Or you could pick an equally bothersome name to counter his, maybe for a girl so that you can both compromise and not use either. And have a great story to share with the kiddo, whatever his/her name may be.
