I wanted to get some honest opinions on the name Bronwyn for a girl. I have really started liking it lately. My DH and I still can't decide between our favorites. We like Evelyn (family name), Vivian, Ireland (DH fav) and now Bronwyn. Does anyone like Bronwyn better than our other choices or should we just stick to those three? By the way, popularity is a big issue for us. We absolutely don't want a popular name! Thanks in advance!!!

First off - I absolutely love Bronwyn over all of the others!

I was so pleased to find a "less common" name in contention over others that are considered more common (like Evelyn or Vivian -which are both beautiful).

My husband and I are struggling to find the balance between what we like and what is currently popular (Lily, Ella and Isobel are SO popular right now I can't stand it - they took my favorite names!) and what we also love but is possibly considered "too far out there" (Aurelia, Esme, Lorelei, Muse).

Good luck in your search!

Thanks for the responses. It really helps alot!!! It's hard because most of our friends and family members aren't very open minded about less common names. They seem to only like popular, traditional names that are heard over and over. That's not our style at all! I just figure when the baby is here they will accept her "different" name. lol

I am half welsh (mother born and raised in Northern Wales). I like it but my daughter has a traditional welsh name-Rhian. I thought of Bronwyn and other welsh names only because I am welsh and spent summers there.

I'm sorry, but I'm not understanding the liking of Bronwyn. I've heard a few other girls ask about it, but I jus dont think it's a cute or pretty little girls name. Just the BRON part of it sounds very unflattering. I really like Evelyn.I think its much prettier!! Vivian reminds me of one of those ladies off of a soap opera. Ireland is okay, I think thats Kim Bassinger's daughters name. Evelyn gets my vote. Good luck!!

I've known three or four young women with that name and it's lovely. Some spell it "branwyn."
