Hey!

I was wondering what y'all thought of Campbell for a girl's name and also what you all thought of Sailor/Saylor for a girl too??

Does anybody think the nn Belle/Bella is cute for Campbell?

I take it from your screen name that you already have a Harper - so I feel that Campbell is in that same style - surnamed turned first name

the Campbell I like well enough, Belle as a nickname for it I can't stand - that is whole other name category - Belle - yuck, sorry to be so blunt - Campbell itself is much much cuter than that and no need for a nn there

sorry, don't like Saylor/Sailor - either spelling

Campbell to me is Campbell Scott--George C. Scott's son, big and dark and masculine and the ghastly Sloan Cates in "Music and Lyrics." (And, actually, Campbell is apparently what the "C" in George C. Scott stands for--double masculine, there.) And then soup.

Yeah, people are using it on girls (but, then, I know a baby girl named Randall.) But it frankly sounds off to me. And there are scores and scores of other ways to get to Bella that are far more appealing--Bellamy, for instance, would work with Harper brilliantly without sounding so trendy.

And Saylor...I don't get this one. It makes me think of the old "hey, sailor" come-ons, and salty sea dogs and the "y" spelling just makes the name look like it wants to be Taylor.

So, long story short...nope, neither one has the same individuality as Harper.

I automatically thought of boy when I read Campbell, and I thought of the soup. I Love the name Saylor.

I am going to be the odd one out on this one. I really dislike Campbell on a girl (even on a boy, reminds me of soup..) and Belle really just doesn't work off of it. I agree with one of the other posters, Bellamy works so much better.

I wouldn't use it myself but I see nothing wrong with Sailor/Saylor. I think it is a perfectly cute girls name and is in the same arena as Taylor to me. For some reason it reminds me a bit of Demi Moore naming style (maybe because of Scout).

I don't think either of them are as cute as Harper though. I think names like Peyton, Piper, Kendell etc. sound better. Good luck with whatever you choose :)

Campbell by itself would not appeal to me for a girl BUT if you planned on calling her Bella as a nn, I could deal with it. It would be unique!

Sailor is cute...NMS though. I like your Campbell/Bella idea better though.

I love the name Campbell for a girl, but with no nn. If you wanted one though Bell is cute. Saylor is a cute name too.

We used to live next door to a little girl named Campbell and at the pool the other day there was a girl named Campbell. I don't really like the name though...it reminds me of the soup as well.
