What version of it is best:
John Teddy
John Theodore?
or??

I plan to call him by both names (it we go by this name that is) I don't like a plain John.
Also how common is it to call someone by their middle name??

thanks

I'd drop the two-name thing. I think you'll end up liking John over time, and if not, why not just name him Theodore and call him Theo? Or Teddy? Or, if you must, John Theo?

I know one kid named Blaine-John and that's what they call him. His last name is great--not too uncommon or odd and it fits perfectly with his combined first-name.

I think John Theodore looks and sounds much better than John Teddy.

I like John Theodore better than John Teddy. Teddy seems too unfinished.

Have you considered John Edward? You could still use the nn Teddy.

I know several people who use a double name - John David, John Patrick, John James. I think it sounds fine. Your DS will have the option of using both, one or the other when he grows older.

Have you thought about switching the names around and using Theodore John or Theo John? I definitely like that more than John Teddy, which I have to agree looks incomplete. Of John Theodore, but call him Theo or even Teddy. My nephew is Spencer Jeffrey, but goes by Jeffrey. He's only one, so who knows if there will be problems once he starts school, though.
