Can you think of a female version of...
| Mon, 04-02-2007 - 10:50pm |
My brother passed away over a year ago. I am trying to think of a girls name to honor him (he had no kids).
I don't like unisex names so it may be hard to find something I like.
His name was Timothy Wayne.
It's a challenge huh!
Thanks in Advance.

That is a challenge. ;)
Timotha and Timothea are feminine forms (the nn Thea is sweet, if you would use it as a fn).
I don't know any female versions of Wayne offhand, but you might use something very similar, like Wynne, in his honor. A Gwyn- name, like Gwyneth, with Wynne as a nn is also an option.

Yikes! HTH. Good luck!!
It's wonderful that you want to honor your brother, but I agree that Timothy Wayne is a tough one to feminize. I think the actual feminine variation of Timothy is Timothea. If that's not your style (and I wouldn't blame you--it's not mine, either) perhaps you could honor your brother by using his initials. Tallulah Wayne, Talia Wallis, Theresa Willow, or Tabitha Wynne, for example. You could also use parts of his names: the IMO could become Imogen, the THY could become Thea, MO could be Mona, etc.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Honoring your brother is a wonderful idea.
Definitely a challenge though! Here are a few ideas...
The feminine form of Timothy is Timothea. That's probably not your style, but you might be able to just use a part of it or a name with a similar sound. Thea is adorable.
Dorothy -- shares the "othy" ending and is really cute. It fits well with the revived older names but stands out as not just another Emma or Ella. Dora or Dori is a really cute nn.
Use his initials. If you have a hard time feminizing his name, you'll have a lot more freedom if you just use his initials and this is still a great honor. For instance, Teresa Wynn or Talia Willow would still be in honor of Timothy Wayne.
You could also think a little outside the box and pick a name that honors something he loved rather than his name. For example, if he was a nature lover, you could choose a flower or tree name like Lily or Rose. If he loved music, Harmony or Allegra. If he loved books, the name of his favorite author or character. You get the idea.
Good luck!
I like the idea of using
I love that you want to honor your brother. I've always loved the name Wynne and think it is a great way to honor him. Using his initials is also nice. What is your maiden name/brother's last name? Is that something you can use? Perhaps for a middle name?
Lets see...Timothy Wayne...
Tayne - a bit different, but incorporates the T from Timothy and ayne from Wayne. Kind of nice!
Tyne - also incorporates T from Timothy and yne from Wayne. Nice name.
Timothea or Timotha- a mouthful, but the nn Thea is nice. Perhaps Timothea as a middle name?
Timo - it's a greek name, feminine form of Timon.
I like Tayne, Tyne and especially Wynne!
Timothy means "honoring God" and Wayne means "wagon maker" so maybe you could find names with similar meanings. I looked at behind the name briefly and a few names came up for Timothy - Ariel, Astrid, Dorothea, Talya. Nothing came up for Wayne. I bet if you really do a more involved search you could come up with names with close enough meanings. Or what were your brother's favorite hobbies? I think it is great you want to honor your brother.
