This is a recent adition to our boy's name list but I'm loving it more each day. What do you think of it? I don't really like Charles so fn would just be Charlie.

I think it is a cute name. My only concern would be how it would transfer into the adult/professional world.

I'm with you on not liking Charles, but loving Charlie. It sounds so sweet and spunky to me, great name!

Charlie is great! One poster suggested that it may not translate well into adulthood, but my very austere grandfather was a Charlie and he was Northern California business manager for a large labor union and was both serious and professional.

I love it! It's on our list too, and I am also not so hot on Charles. I am toying with using just Charlie as well. My Mom did that with my brother - whose name is Jamie, not James.

I think it's a great nn, but not one that would transfer well into adulthood, depending on the type of career he chose to pursue. For example, I can't see Charlie Smith being elected President or running a company (other than a bowling alley, since this is the name of the owner of our local bowling alley/tavern LOL), whereas Charles Smith seems perfectly adult. (I do agree that Charlie is much "cuter" than Charles, of course, but I'd prefer a name that work just as well on an adult and would name him Charles or some other form, like Charleson, simply to give him the option as he matures).
