DH and I like Bridget for a girl. Is it a classic name or outdated? We also like Cole for a boy, but has that seen it's peek and on the way out? DD is Jillian Paige.

Thanks,

Piper

I think Bridget has negative connotations for me, not sure why, but it just sounds like a harsh/stuffy/iptight person, as in, not someone I would like to know, and also very 70s, not my style personally.

I think Cole is cute, but is pretty popular.

I think Bridget and Cole are both a nice match for Jillian.

Like a PP said I have a bad connotion of Bridget. I know a trashy girl with the name so it ruins it for me. But I do like the name itself. I love Cole as well. It one our list for boys. I also LOVE Jillian. I think its a gorgeous name. IMHO Bridget and Jillian don't go together well IMHO. But I think Cole and Jillian are lovely together.

Love the name Bridget! It's perfect with Jillian! Classic and underused!

Cole is a great name too. Very popular.

I do find Cole to be a bit trendy and at its peak, I am rather tired of it, but Jillian and Bridget are gorgeous as sisters and Bridget is definitely classy in the same way Jillian is... not outdated at all. LOVE it!

I really like Bridget. I would say it's more classic than outdated. I actually predict it is on it's way up in popularity (but I don't think it will become TOO popular!).
I like Cole as a nn to Nicholas, but not on its own. I think as a complete first name it's trendy & on it's way down.

I LOVE Bridget. I would use it if my last name didn't start with BRI.

I think Bridget and Jillian work great for sisters. I am not that in love with the name Bridget, but I dont think its outdated, and I also agree with a PP that its getting more popular, but not too popular. Also, I love Cole, but I dont think it can stand on its own. I would go with Nicholas as a given name and use the nn Cole. Then if he wants to use Nick or Nico or even Nicholas for the big bad adult world, I think it has a more proffesional sound to it. When I think Cole, I think of a good looking bad boy, not a head honcho! HTH!

I think it's "dated" but not necessarily "out-dated" - not sure how to get across what I mean

it's not old-lady sounding, the few I ever knew would know be between 35-60 years old I think

I haven't come across any small children with that name, but it's a nice name, not old-sounding, not trendy, not unique - just a name that's always been out there just enough to make it a recognizable name

I think Cole is way too trendy - almost like a fad - I don't like it at all

I love Bridget, and I think of it as a modern classic. I think Jillian and Bridget are a precious match for sisters--not too matchy and not too different. Good choice!

I don't have such great feelings about Cole, because I see it as a trendier and more nicknamey choice. Since it seems important to you to choose a name that won't sound outdated in five years, I agree with the PP that Nicholas might be a better pick for you. It would certainly give your son more options. If he doesn't want to keep the more youthful Cole as a nn, he could go traditional with Nick or opt for hip with Nico. I love Jillian and Nicholas as a sibset--so cute!
