My DH wants our son to be named after him and his father....i dont like it. I feel people are going to laugh at him..I am even embarrased to say that his name is going to be Claudio. He says there is no way around it though!!! HELP

The only thing I can think of that's remotely bad about it is that is sounds really similar to the feminine name Claudia, which isn't heard much these days anyway, so the chances of him having a Claudia in one of his classes is pretty slim.
If you hate the name *that* much, you can tell him that you'd be willing to use it as a middle name but there's no way in heck you'll make *THIS* kid a third. You'd have to be really firm about it and I know more than 1 guy who'd really put up a fight about it but it could work. Maybe instead of a third, you could flip the names around? That way Claudio would be his middle name.
All in all, it's not a terrible name (Adolph or Genghis would be far worse, IMHO) but I also think that a child should be named by BOTH parents. Using a name you detest is a form of cruelty, in my book and he should be willing to compromise at least a little for the sake of harmony within your relationship.
I'm sure my opinion on using it as a middle instead won't be the last one so you should wait 'til you get a lot of responses and then show them to him.. that might change his mind and/or make him amenable to compromise some.
Good luck, dear!
Claudio isn't terrible.
But if honoring family tradition is that important and you do compromise to use Claudio -give him a J middle name. CJ is so darn sweet and fits a little boy and an adult perfectly...I don't like a lot of inital names but CJ is one I love!!! I would just call him CJ his whole life personally.
Good luck!
