Color me crazy

This may sound strange but my dh and I are considering linking all our children's names by using a color as their middle name (ex: boy-hunter or girl-jade). I was wondering if you had any suggestions on colors or shades of colors that would be appropriate for a middle name. I know a lot of color names but just when I need to know them it seems I keep drawing a blank. Please help!! Also, do you think this is a neat idea or too weird?

I think that as long as you use it as a middle name, it isn't weird at all. But honestly names like Hunter, I don't automatically think of as a color, so even if it was a fn it would be fine too.

Some colors I thought of

Opal

Sapphire

Ruby

Violet

Amethyst

Emerald

Lilac

Coral

Olive

Orchid

Royal

Ivory

Forest

Cocoa

Redd

Sage

Mauve

Rose

I hope that helps a little.

I like Azure and Sienna. I don't really care for Teal, but it's one that hasn't been suggested yet, so...

I think that is a very cool idea. I personally love nature/word names. My two each have a nature name for the middles. Hunter and Jade are two of my favorites as well. Here are some others:

Violet

Lilac

Rose

Amethyst

Grey/Gray

Teal

Olive

Opal

Coral

Ruby

Diamond

Pearl

Sapphire

Emerald

Ivory

Ebony

Blue/Bleu

I love all of the names that have been suggested. I am a big fan of slightly unusual middle names with "normal" first names so this sort of thing is right up my alley. While I think it would border on cruel to name a child "Azure Lauren" I think "Lauren Azure" would make a beautiful, unique name. Bad example but hopefully you kwim! Awhile back I read about a woman (on the boards I think, but not this one) who named her DD Abigail Orange and I thought it was fresh and pretty. I also love Bleu/Blue.

I don't think anyone's mentioned my favorite boy name color:

Jasper (it's a stone and a light green color)

I also like Blue (simple, but nice!)

Amy, mom to Nate (9), Calvin (7), and Tobias (4). You can find me at my blogs:
