hello!! i post here now and then-i guess im a baby name freak-lol. i just love picking out names and helping out with middle names and such...but anyway, why do people insist on doing these things to their kids-i was at the zoo on sunday and there was this lil boy in front of me at one of the exhibits and his mom was trying to get his attention: kethan. like ethan with a ca sound in the beginning. im not sure on the spelling and she said his name about 3 times so i know i heard right. why must people do that to their kid-try to be original, make up a name combining other names and that poor kid!!! i work with a guy named nevin. it makes me think of never-like his parents switched the k for an n on kevin...now there are times when a combo name works-my dd goes to school with a toriana...but usually combo names sound just what they are: made up and funky...and why do that to your child????

I love the name Keethan or Kaythen, not sure which you're referring to. I have an Ethan and if I knew it was going to be so popular I definitely would have considered Keethan. And then there's Lathan instead of Nathan, Davan instead of Devin, and so on. There's tons of names out there like that and I love them because they are unique.

I have seen Keithan (different spellings, but I think this is the one I remember seeing most often) as a form of Keith. I only know because Keith is my FIL's name. ;) Perhaps this was the name you heard, and (hopefully) not just a trendy twist on Ethan. ;)

I've already checked out that website and found none of the names flowed nicely together, IMO. The site is off topic to what the poster is referring to. The site gives suggestions on first and middle name combos. The poster is talking about first names that sound like 2 names combined together to make up a new name.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood, and as far as the names not flowing, then why don't you suggest some. Names don't flow IMO unless you add a last name to them anyway, plus those are genuine names of people, so try adding a last name to them and then check the flow. Once again, I'm truly sorry that I misunderstood the post.

Now that I went back, I remember why I posted the website. It was because the poster said that she was a name freak, so I thought she would like to look at that site. At the time, I couldn't think of any names like she was asking, but I do have a cousin who's name is Marchel, and it is a combination of her Mom and Dad's name, Mark and Cheryl. Those type names are just not my style, but I understand that everyone has different tastes, so I have no problem with people doing it.

I generally don't like made-up names but I know a girl called Janeve (her mum is called Jane and her dad is called Steve so its a combo of them both) and I think its really pretty and works as a proper name. Having said that my brother knows a boy called Bryvon whose name is a combo of his Dad's (Bryan) and Mum's (Yvonne) which I think is just cruel!
