Hey guys,
My cousin, who is 31 next month just found out she was pregnant with her first baby, and she doesn't know what she is having yet these are the names she is thinking of
Girl - is def. going to be ALTHEA - nn:ALLIE (i cannot stand this!, but i will be calling her allie)
Boys - Constantino (nn: Tino), Jayson (nn:Jay) , William (nn: Will) (Im not a fan of Constantino nn-tino or Jayson, but can deal with them )
I am voting for William nn: Will --- I love the name Will on a little boy and William is so classic I hope she picks this name...
I'm very excited about this baby b/c me and my cousin are very close and she has been trying for a loooonnnggg time!!!!
Tell me what you think of these names!!!!
Casey

Althea is a lovely and unusual name
I actually know a two-year-old girl named Althea!

My ds, 3 1/2 yrs old, is named Will, and while I do get LOTS of compliments on the name, I just want to throw up the caution flag that it is VERY popular in certain areas. We are in the south and there are LOTS his age, and I see it in the birth announcements frequently. I even had a good friend (who lives in a different area of the country) thinking about it for her boy. For us it is a family name, but sometimes I wish we had used Liam as a nn instead of Will. Don't get me wrong -- I love my son's name. I just had no idea how popular it was...and still is. For the new one (edd 8-29) I am being a lot more cautious of popularity -- I mean, my son is already known as "Will E." in his PRESCHOOL class of 11 kids. (two Wills in 11 kids!) I still would go with Will over Jayson or Constantino (unless she has heritage that leads her toward that choice), but just wanted to share my experience.
Just my two cents, Alyson
PS -- All the names I picked out before this pregnancy and at the VERY beginning I have moved away from...so don't be too worried about her choices yet. ;-)
Sorry! I'm going to disagree with you, too. I like Althea a lot. I wouldn't pick it myself, but I think it has a great deal of appeal. Strong but feminine and out of the common way. It's a fabulous choice.
I prefer Constantine to Constantino, I don't care for Jayson much at all, and I think William is wonderful. It's the one boys name in the top 10 that I could actually see myself using, and I'm pretty particular about not using popular names. (I read the previous poster's comments, the one with the son named William, with interest.)
Best wishes to your cousin!

Okay, Althea is nmsaa, but I do like a lot of AL names, seeing how I am Alison, called Ali. I also don't like the spelling of Allie at all for some reason, though I can stand Alli, and I do like Ally. Personally I like my spelling of Ali the best :-)
Constantino, nmsaa, Jayson, okay, but I really like it spelled Jason. And, William is okay, but so overused, I prefer Liam as a nickname or all on it's own.
Good luck to her,
Ali
Well, she is using ALTHEA from the GRATEFUL DEAD song, which i have never heard, but she is obsessed since forever. She picked this name like 10 years ago when she first started thinking about babies and she finally gets to use it, and it really is nmsaa I am so excited about it, who cares about the name!
As for WILLIAM, william HAS TO BE the first or middle name. It is her husbands fathers name...so it will be either. not to mention, I love will, even if it is popular, i only know one little boy under 5 named William, and I knew 2 LIAMS, so to me both are popular.
Jayson i like ok, but since theey HAVE TO use William as a middle name if they don't use it as a fn, then the kid will be JAYSON WILLIAM KIDD, so he is either Jayson Kidd or Jayson Williams, so I told them Jayson spelled ay way was a bad idea.
and Constantino is jus nmsaa, i really, really don't like it and it is too ethnic for me, i mean i can take Tino, but i mean CONSTANTINO is such a big name for a little kid, who won't be ablle to write it till he is 10...lol \
but i will love any of them when the babies here!
