I am brainstorming ideas on how to break the news to the grandparents that we are having a girl. Anyone have any fun or unique ways for us to share the wonderful news?

Thanks,
Stacy

Do the grandmas have hobbies? I gave one grandma pink yarn with a note that said "Please make me a blanket. This is my favorite color". The other grandma got flowers with a pink "it's a girl" balloon in them.

Cute ideas... unfortunately they don't have any hobbies, but the flowers and a balloon might work!

Thanks

When we get pregnant this time around I plan on sending my mom flowers with the balloon- you are lucky you know it's a girl... I was just planning on sending a generic baby one.

A lady I work with found out that way and she was on cloud nine all day. Everyone that came in had to admire the flowers and listen to how excited she was! LOL

Well, I can tell you how we told our parents/grandparents we were expecting. That might give you an idea that would work in your situation as well. :)

When we were expecting our second daughter (and no one even knew we were "trying"), we had mugs made for each grandmother with a picture of our first daughter on the front that said "Guess why Kaitlyn's so excited?" and then on the back it said "Because we get a BABY for Christmas this year!" or something to that extent (if you don't have any other children, you could put a picture of yourselves together or of your pregnant belly, etc.). This was my favorite way of telling, because then they had a little "momento" to keep ... that they all still love to use to this day, btw! ;)

With our third daughter, a complete surprise, we had our youngest (who was around 9 months or so at the time) wear one of our older daughter's "I'm the BIG SISTER!" shirts from when she was born. It was adorable, even though she was absolutely swimming in it LOL. Anyway, we had her wear it under her jacket when we took her to my mom's house (she was babysitting that night while we went to a movie), then we just let her find it herself. Of coure, our 4 year old was more than happy to "share" the news once Nana prodded her a bit, but she still thought it was a joke and refused to believe it at first even once we got home to confirm the news. LOL

I've also heard of people framing an ultrasound photo in an "It's a Boy/Girl!" frame and wrapping it up for the grandparents to open. Along a similar theme, you could also wrap up some cute, pink frilly girl clothes or something like that (maybe for Valentines Day? LOL).

HTH! Let us know what you decide to do! :)

Well, the way that my hubby and I told our parents, was, I called my mom and after she asked "what's up?" I stated "Well.... how are you today Grammy?" It took her a little bit, but the next thing that I heard was her screaming on the other end and laughing and crying. :) She said that this was a great way to find out.
