Dillon/Dillyn as a girls name...

I'm currently 2 months pregnant. If we're having a boy, we have decided on the name Aiden Michael Byrd... For a girl, I like the name Dillon/Dillyn Marie Byrd- but my mother and grandmother, and my husband's mother think it's "too masculine". Also- If I stick with this name, I can't decide if I want to spell it Dillon or Dillyn...

I love Dillon for girl, but only spelled Dillon or Dylan. Dylan is my favorite spelling.

I think Dylan is a boy's name. There's a little girl at my son's school and her name is Hunter.....not a feminine name at all. I feel the same way about Dylan.

I like your boys name but am not a fan of the girls name. I know MANY boys named Dylan and can only see it as a boys name. As a general rule, I really don't like boys names used for girls, sorry.

Sorry, I can't even see Dillon (any spelling) as a girl name (unlike some names that are technically unisex). The only one I've ever heard of is Drew Barrymore's character in Charlie's Angels - of course, that was an alias anyway, and her real name was Helen Zass (also not a good association rofl). I do like your boy name very much, though. :)

I love both names Aiden Michael and Dillyn Marie are great. I think if you end up using Dillyn I wouldn't spell in Dillon for a girl, that kind of looks masculine. I would spell it Dillyn or Dillan.

Thanks you everyone for your comments... I've given it a lot of thought, and I think I'm going to stick with Dillyn... My own name (Lacey) WAS unusual growing up and I really liked that. My sister's name is Kyle, so I'm biased toward making names unisex... To "Casey" whose post is just before this, thank you for your support on the name, I agree on "Dillyn" being the more feminine spelling (especially since my mom's middle name is Lynn) and I LOVE your children's names! Very unique... I'm sure that they'll live up to them :)

I think Dillon looks too masculine, but I have seen Dylan on a couple girls. I do prefer Dylan to Dillyn and think that it looks just as feminine. The thing I don't like about Dillyn is that it makes me want to say Dilly, and then I have to backtrack and pronounce it differently with the n. I don't know if that makes any sense or not, but Dillyn just seems more confusing to me.

Ick, I don't like it at all. I will say if you go with the name to use the Dylan spelling, not Dillyn. I see that and it just looks like the word Dilly to me.
