Do these names need to go together?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site - a friend referred me to this board for the baby naming experts.
I am 6 months pregnant with twin girls (first children for my husband and myself). My husband and I have had our two nieces (siblings) living with us for the last two years because their mother (my SIL) has been unable to take care of them. We are not sure how long we'll have them with us - but it seems as though it will be a while, and that is fine because they're great kids. Okay now to the point - do our girls' names need to fit with our nieces??
My husband and I are thinking about names like Charlotte, Caroline, Alexandra.. just normal English style names (my husband and I are both from different backgrounds and are both first-generation english speakers, so we want easy names for our girls to fit in). Anyway, our nieces are Oxana and Katya - do I need to name our twins similarly??
Thank you for your help!

I don't think your twins names need to match your nieces names at all.
No, I wouldn't worry about matching thier names. Just use names that you love! (I really like your classy taste).

Not at all. ;)
Your nieces' names reflect THEIR mother's/parents' style, not you and your dh's. Your twins names don't need to "go" with theirs in any way. Name them what you love. ;)

thank you all! this is good news to me! I love the name Alexandra but it does sound close to Oxana so I will have to think about that one.
I think if Alexandra has a nick name it would be Sasha, but she could call herself whatever she likes - I just like the full thing.
We also love Carolina (pronounce carolEEna) but don't want our girls both with names which end in -a. I mentioned Charlotte and Carolina as possible names and my friend said that people will think of Charlotte, North Carolina. What do you think? I pronounce Carolina differently from the state so maybe it doesn't matter?
no, you do not need to name your twins similarly to your nieces - not at all
agree with the rest, name your girls as you & your hubby love. they dont need to be similar to them, nor completely different.
noone around here will think the city with a girl/someone named Charlotte.. unless maybe live in the Carolina's. but is as long, established known name. an has become common again as well. Alexandra & Charlotte would be lovely!

I also pronounce Carolina (as a name) with the long "ee" sound, so wouldn't immediately think "Charlotte, N. Carolina" with those two, but I WOULD wonder why the parents chose to use two forms of Charles for both girls. Especially for twins, since I'd assume they were purposefully trying to give them matchy, nearly identical names, KWIM?
Love either on it's own, however. ;)
