Hello Everyone, I am pregnant and due June 4th. We have not found out the sex of the baby yet but here are the names for a boy and girl!!

BOY: After my husband(who goes by Todd): Christopher Todd (BUT we will call him FOX) (Todd means Fox)
Girl: Ashtyn Taylor

Do you like these?? My parents and in-laws like the girl name and HATE the fact that we will call a boy Fox. Is this a horrible name??

No need for anger. Er... you asked for opinions. It sounds made up and no offense but someone said it earlier that it sounds like an ashtray - just an opinion. Sorry of it sounds offensive.

I prefer Christopher, not Chris, over Fox. Fox is cute for a baby maybe. You may want to also note that Tod is the name of the fox in the Fox and the Hound. Your son may get teased once he gets older. Ultimately, I would go with my heart, if you and your hubby are set on Fox and it works for you, then don't worry about parents and in-laws. =)

I actually love the name Fox and like Todd as well. But, why not just use the name Fox instead of Todd?

As for a girl, love Ashtyn, especially this spelling, but Taylor is getting old to me. It seems so overdone. If not for that, I would like it, but not sure I like the sound of it with Ashtyn. Here are some other ideas with Ashtyn:

Ashtyn Brooke
Ashtyn Rose
Ashtyn Rain/Raine
Ashtyn Skye
Ashtyn Isabelle
Ashtyn Brielle
Ashtyn Gabrielle
Ashtyn Hope
Ashtyn Tate
Ashtyn Belle
Ashtyn Sage
Ashtyn Paige
Ashtyn Grace
Ashtyn Renee
Ashtyn Elizabeth
Ashtyn Liane
Ashtyn Elaine
Ashtyn Elise
Ashtyn Faith
Ashtyn Olivia
Ashtyn Jolie
Ashtyn Juliette
Ashtyn Julianne
Ashtyn Annette
Ashtyn Harmony
Ashtyn Melody
Ashtyn Cassidy
Ashtyn Claire
Ashtyn Rebecca
Ashtyn Saylor
Ashtyn Bridget
Ashtyn Roxane
Ashtyn Jade

Sunny

I am married to a Christopher and as a teacher have taught many = and believe me any and all Christophers are a handful...lol! Bright but mischievious kids :)

One of my friends in high school was a Todd Christopher...your post made me think of him.

I think Fox is okay...but I would also use his given name to refer to him and not replace it completely.

I am not a fan of Ashtyn. I have taught a few...not great associations for me. Kinda of "not all there" types.

When we had our son, ironically 25 years ago today, we named him James William after both sides of our family three generations. So we decided we would call him Billy for William as we already had one James (dh) in our house. Well, wouldn't you know the day he started Kindergarten he told everyone his name was James. He hated Billy but we have and will continue to call him Billy and many times this has been confusing. Just remember nick names can produce problems but ultimately, I agree with everyone else go with your heart. Congratulations and good luck with your pregnancy. Kathi :)

Thanks for all of your opinions! I was not trying to be rude! I acually got the idea for Fox from the fox and the hound. If my kid gets made fun of, he can decide to change his name!!

hello and congratulations.

christopher todd is not a name i like, but it sounds like something special for you and your husband. as for the fox, as a nickname it is very nice but that would be as far as i would take it. are you wanting everyone (teachers, friends, family, etc) to call him fox? when he gets older he can always go by chris or todd. it is not like you are calling him something that has negative connotations. i have known children to go by a lot names than fox and also people who went by their middle names rather than there first names as this is what they prefer.

I am in australia and the names ashtyn and taylor are not commonly used, though ashton for boys is becoming more popular. i like names that are different from the everyday, over used ones. have you considered spelling taylor diferently; as in tayla (this was a very sensitive, sweet girl i taught in preschool!)? i don't feel that there is too much of a 't' sound and it doesn't sound too masculine. i have known a ashlyn and an ashwin too, both girls.

in the end the decision is yours (and your husbands) and as long as you two are happy, and the baby is healthy, then that is all that matters.

take care and all the best,
claire :)

I like Ashtyn...it is becoming increasingly popular, but that may not bother you (and Im not saying it should).
What about naming a boy Christopher Fox? Then the nickname would make a little more sense and you would do less explaining. But then again, this is coming from someone who named her son Simon Scooter ;)
