I have some names that I like but I am not sure wether they are more masculine or feminine. Some names you hear and definetley think boy or girl but I would like your opinions on these.
Ashton
Brighton
Berkley
Hayden
Payton

Ashton - boy, but it could easily be a girl's name, especially if spelled differently like Ashtyn or something
Brighton - boy.. I have never heard this for a girl
Berkley - definitely sounds like a girl name
Hayden - either way. when I hear it I think "girl" but I kind of prefer it as a boy name
Payton - boy

Ashton - could be either to me. I've never met anyone (g or b) with this name IRL, but I lean a little more toward girl because it was the name of a heroine in a book I read. But I think it's nice for boy or girl.
Brighton - boy
Berkley - boy
Hayden - boy
Payton - girl
Peyton - boy

A few years ago, they all would have sounded like boy names to me. Now being around the board for a while, I've been conditioned to see Hayden and Peyton as girl names, but I typically wouldn't have. To me, girl names end in "a"- aside from tried-and-true, classic names like Elizabeth. I definitely wouldn't use any of those names for a girl though.

I would guess Brighton was a boy and that Payton was a girl. For Ashton, Berkley, and Hayden I would be reluctant to assume anything.

Ashton-I've always seen as girl, but it appears that the boys are taking this one over
Brighton-girl, I knew a baby named Brighton Sierra
Berkley-I would say girl
Hayden-boy
Payton-the first Payton I knew was a girl, but I now I know more boys named that.

If you decide to go with either of these names, I would strongly suggest to use either a strongly masculine or strongly feminine middle name

Good Luck!

This is hard, I've only known two people (kids) personally with these names, so that kind of influences my decision, plus celebrities. Here's how I see it:

Ashton - boy - I think of Ashton Kutcher immediately, I've never known anyone with the name, it sounds like a male version of Ashley, the T-O-N makes it sound harsher, male.

Brighton - boy - although I've never known a Brighton, except the place Brighton Beach, again this sounds male to me because of the T-O-N ending.

Berkley - girl - never known a Berkley, but the same way that T-O-N sounds masculine, I think the L-E-Y (or "lee" sound) ending makes it sound feminine. I'm sure some little girls out there are named Berkleigh.

Hayden - boy - I know there is that actress on Heroes whose real name is Hayden. But I had a little Hayden in my class who was a boy, so this sounds like a boy's name to me. The other reason is it rhymes and matches with all the popular "aden" boy names, Aidan, Braden, Jayden, Kaden, etc. etc.

Payton - boy - I knew a little boy named Peyton, I think of quarterback Peyton Manning, and it has the T-O-N ending.

That said, I'm sure all of these names could be used for a boy or a girl, but these are my first impressions. Don't know if that helps!
