It reminds me too much of Mylanta (widely advertised OTC med for stomach distress).

LOL, that's the first thing I thought of too. Mylanta. Little kids may not know about Mylanta but if they do they will probably do some teasin.

Hi,

I was surprised when I'd seen that so many people had voted that they thought a child with the name Mylana would be teased as I'd never heard of the medicine Mylanta (I don't think we have it here in the UK) but it is quite similar. I think it's a pretty name but if the association bothers you then how about Mylene (pn MY-LEEN)? It's a really nice name that is similar.

Thanks for your reply, and to eveyrone else who responded! Do you still think people will think "Mylanta", even if her name is pronounced MILL-ANN-A? Or, should I consider spelling it, "Milana"? I didn't like that because it reminds me too much of the city. And I didn't like "Malana" because people will say, MALL-AN-A, and I didn't like "Melana", because people will call her "Mel" for short, and I don't like that. Maybe I should pick a different name...but I just love it so! *sigh*

Doesn't really matter how it's pronounced. When someone SEES it is when they'll make the association to "Mylanta". I think Milana is much better and I don't believe I've heard of the city Milana so for me Milana just seems like a pretty name.

It's a beautiful name - but if you need to ask you already know the answer.

I do think you'd do better to spell it Milana, but I would almost definitely pronounce this Mill-ah-na. If you're looking for a pronunciation ending in -anna, it would be more like Milanna (also one step further from Mylanta, so another plus). ;)

Thank you, I really like Milanna...sounds like a good solution, one that I have been looking for for some time. I am ever so grateful! xo
