Do you think my daughter will be teased with the name, "Mylana"?

oh, I definitely agree that Kelli's proposed spelling is best for that pronounciation you like. I'd never have guessed correctly with Mylana or Melana or Milana (and I definitely made the Mylanta association immediately) but I'd guess right with Milanna. I actually really like Melana/Milana (Mil-ah-na) and Milanna. Very different and pretty -- I'm glad you find a spelling that works for you!

I love the name! We even considered Milan as a name bcs that is where my husband and I spent the first 1.5 of our life together but didn't like spelling it like the city. I love your creativity!!! In fact, I immediately pronounced it Mil-anna. Not sure though how most people would read it.

Still, fab name. I say go for it. And, I was very surprised to hear people think of Mylanta. Strange.

Good luck.

Thank you! I love the name too...it's actually what my Ukrainian father wanted to name me, but he lost out to my Mom's choice (Tanya)! I always like the name but never knew the exact spelling...I have found it spelled Mylana and that's what my husband likes best...we might go with Mylana Rose anyway and prepare our daughter for a response should some children tease her or not in the future...I don't wish negative experiences on her, but, unfortunately in life, people can be mean! We all know that, and it will possibly be a life lesson for her to experience handling others when they are mean or insensitive. I'm open to opinions on this too! Thanks again.

Well when you think about it most all kids get teased and tease others so if it's not her name it'll be something else. I was always teased about having a big forehead and looking back I don't have a big forehead but I guess the kids needed something to pick on me for.

Also, I love the spelling Milanna. I think it's really pretty. Good luck in choosing the spelling (I'm going through the same thing - see my post on Alyssa/Alissa).
