Does "August" sound too ethnic for a boy with a long Greek last name?
- Yes - don't pigeonhole your kid with a weird first AND last name
- Yes, and that's GREAT! The more Greek the better even though he's only 1/4
- No, August is creative, familiar & easy to say -unlike his crazy greek last
- "August" is just bad, regardless of last name
- Makes me think of Augustus, which is Greeker than Greek

I'm not an expert by a long shot, but I'm pretty sure August or Augustus is not Greek - it's Latin.
I am Swedish and August is common here,
This may be because there was an August and an Augusta in my Scandinavian family, but I think of August as very Western/Northern European. I immediately think blond or redhead. I don't get a Greek vibe from it at all.

If you plan to use the nn "Gus" then that is a very Greek nn. Although I don't know if most people know that, since I think a lot of Greek-Americans go by "Gus" in the states because it sounds very Americanized.
I like the name though, but without knowing your last name, can't tell if it "flows." There is also August Burroughs, and wasn't he British??
