Does Cole go with our last name?
| Tue, 07-26-2005 - 10:09am |
Hello,
My husband LOVES the name Cole for a boy. I like it too, but I am concerned that it may not go well with our last name...Mountain. Will kids interpret as "Coal Mountain" ? My husband says the last name prompted a lot of teasing growing up. Any other ideas for a boy's name? For a girl's name I love Kayla, but I wonder if this name is too popular now?
Thanks!

Ooh, I like Cole, too, but I have to agree that "Coal" Mountain might be a bit much. Maybe it would be better to find a fn that's not also a "word." Some ideas -- Noah, Nolan, Carter, Carson, Grant, Luke, Tyler, Brant, Brandon, Alex, or Trent.
I think Kayla is a very pretty name, too. I really liked Michaela (nn Kaila/Kayla) before I knew how popular the related names are now. There are so many little girls named Kayla/Kailey/Kylee/etc. Of course, if you love the name, then maybe popularity isn't as big of a deal, and the Kaylas may be declining as the Emily/Emmas stay popular along with some other classic names.
Good luck making a decision!
Stephanie
i also love the name cole...but think the Coal Mountain would be the interpretation...kids will figure that out. How about Cade? Others: Brady, Gavin, Garrett, Jackson/Jaxon, Parker, Carson, Spencer, Zane
i also love kayla and think it is a little popular, but that is ok in my book. others close to kayla: kyla, kylie, kayley, carly
HTH
I wouldn't do it. I think with a surname like Mountain you should avoid all nature, place, color etc. names.
