My husband likes the name Waylon Charles for a boy. His father's middle name is Charles (which is fine, acutally) but Waylon Jennings is one of his big influences as well....I don't particularly dislike the name but I just think it sounds so outdated...what do you think?

I do think Waylon sounds outdated. Any chance your husband would consider Charles Waylon instead? In the middle name spot Waylon isn't so bad.

Sorry, but I do have to say that it sounds very old. On the plus side is that most Idon't think that the names will be used that many times in the school. I think the name Waylon is just thought of as going with Jennings. Best of Luck!

Waylon does sound old to me, sorry. Although a couple of years ago Emma had sounded old to me (maybe because the only other Emma that I knew was an 80 year old friend of my mil, ha) and now Emma is very popular, so maybe you could start a Waylon phase. :)

I too will vote for loving Waylon.

To me it's in the category of out-of-fashion-but-SOOOO-ready-for-a-comeback.

Sounds like a cool, independent thinker to me.

I really like Waylon...I think it's still a unique name without trying "too hard". Have to admit, I do like Waylon Jenning's so the comparison wouldn't bother me. Don't think of it as old, think classic. And paired with Charles...even better.

Love!

I really like Waylon/Waylan. I had it on our list but dh didn't like it. Another option would be Whelan pronounced more like 'well-in'.
