backwoods to you? someone on another name board said it sounded backwoods. I don't want a backwoods name! I was really leaning towards Grady and then I read that opinion.
WDYT? I am getting a little anxious, only 9 days to go and no name yet.

PS his brother is Scott Nicholas

"Backwoods"? NO way. Grady sounds strong and handsome and a little jaunty. I know one 3 year old Grady who comes from a family who is anything but "backwoods". I'd think of Dusty or Bobby Joe or Lyle as backwoods, but never Grady.

Scott and Grady are a fine pair of Celtic lads!

I LOVE the name Grady, and wanted to name my son that, but the whole family, especially my husband, also thinks it sounds too backwoods (I'm from the south, maybe that's why I like it!) I wanted my son to have my husbands initials like our daughter, but Grady and Gracie were too much alike so in the end I relented and now our son will have my initials....

I don't like it so much but I don't hate it. I think because I have known a Grady in my life and all the boys would make fun of him chanting "Grady's a Lady" over and over. Isn't that terrible? Kids are so mean. Anyway, I think that's why I might have a bad association with the name. It's really not backwoods though-- I would never say that.

I like Grady very much! Maybe because I am from the South, and I knew one boy named "Grayson" who went by "Grady". He was a hottie, so obviously I have a good association with this name! :-)

The one post about the teasing "Grady's a Lady" is definitely something to consider (my husband and I are struggling over names for this very reason), but I still like it and would have it on my own list if I thought my husband would ever go for it.

Good luck!

Oh, not at all. To me, Grady has a sophisticated, charming English gentleman feel to it. I really like it, actually, and I think it goes quite well with Scott.
