I am pregnant with my 4th. I have 2 daughters named Charlotte and Violet. My Grandmother was named Doris Virginia and she was an amazing woman. I am considering naming my baby after her. What are your thoughts on the first name Doris?

Laura B., you're just like me! (LOL see, that was a poem :)

I'm not even TTC and I already want to name my next child. Boy's name I've got and I'll probably change my mind a hundred times before I get a daughter :) My youngest child is barely 9mos old so it won't be any time soon, either!

Congratulations to you :)

I’m sorry, but I am not a fan of the name Doris. I agree that Virginia would be a nice choice that would also match your other girls’ names. Other ideas for incorporating Doris into a name are:

Adora

Dorinda

Endora

Isadora

Doris isn't a fave of mine, but I don't see a problem with it. It's not quite as feminine as Charlotte & Violet, though. If you wouldn't mind having two kids w/ the same initial, I think Virginia would make a lovely fn as well. Also, you could always use Dorothy or Delores, similar to Doris, but a little more feminine to my ear. But, if you like Doris, and it has tons of significance, it's a fine name w/ history & tradition, so I say go for it!
