What do you think? I like the name Rae Clare. I want her to be called Rae Clare. Is this how I would spell it? Would it be Rae-Clare? DH does not like Rae Clare. Any other suggestions? =)

Ummmm, I'm sorry, I don't care for it either. When you say it, it sounds like one word ("Rayclare") instead of two.

What about Clara Rae? I have a Clare and sort of wish we'd named her Clara.

It's really nms, even though it's a family name for me (grandfather was Raymond/Ray and aunt named after him is Raelene ... unfortunately, both hated their names LOL). I just noticed that you said your husband doesn't like it, though, so I guess it's besides the point. Unless he at least likes it, I think you should look for a compromise of some sort. Maybe using either Rae or Clare with another name your dh does like. Then you both win. :) HTH!

Sorry my explanation was short. I noticed in the middle of typing the question that I was about to be late for church. =) Oops.
Of course My DH and I will have to agree on whatever we choose. I like the nmn thing and I want to know if anyone has other ideas. His father's mn is Ray and his gm is Claris. So I came up with Rae Clare. We both like Claris. We like it Clarice better but I kind of like the nmn thing. I was wondering if anyone had other ideas. Something other than Mary Kate, but the same idea. DH may not like any of them but I would like to come up with some more to throw at him. He is stuck on Katie right now and I love the name but it is so common. Although Clare is common I think Clarice makes it different. May be TMI but you get the point. Thanks.

I really don't like double first names at all. But if its your style, go with it. I just don't see the point.

I really like double names, as do a lot of people. If you really like the idea, don't abandon it just because you got a couple negative responses. You'll never find a name EVERYONE loves.

I'm not wild about Rae Clare, but Clare goes with almost any name, so you could easily pair that. And I think Clara Rae is very nice and would work as a double name.

Here are some Clare pairings you might like:

Mary Clare
Marie Clare (be forewarned: Marie Claire is a popular magazine)
Anna Clare
Nina Clare
Harper Clare
Jenna Clare
Emma Clare
Sophie Clare
Olivia Clare
Julia Clare
Lily Clare

I don't think there is anything wrong with double names but I think they have to flow and two one-syllable names like Rae and Clare just don't sound right. How about:

Claris Rae
Clarice Rae
Katie Rae - Used as a double name would mean she wouldn't be one of the many Katie's around if popularity bothers you.
Rayanna Clare

What about Katie Clare? Or is it too much like the word declare? Maybe Katie Clarice?
