Drew for a girl?

What do you think of the name Drew for a girl? I really want to name my child after my grandpa who is the greatest man ever and obviously, his name is Andrew. This is our second and according to my husband, last child. It is definately a girl and we can't decide on a name. I keep wondering if she will grow up hating me for naming her something so masculine? What do you all think? Our five year old daughter's name is Sydney Jeanne. We have a few other choices for this one but wondering what the consesus is on Drew. TIA! Deanna

I like the name Drew for a girl, and when I think of it I don't think of it as a manly name...I think of Drew Barrymore.

Thank you for your opinions!!! I think Drew Barrymore too, but wasn't sure what others thought. I know for the most pary, my family that is VERY opinionated when it comes to names, are supportive of Drew for a girl, which shocked me! Thanks again! My DH and DD like Alyssa, which was a name we had decided on but the closer my due date gets, the more I think that she just doesn't feel like an Alyssa. I guess I will wait and see what she looks like and hope that helps?! Thanks again, I really appreciate it! Deanna

I really like Drew for a girl, like the actress Drew Barrymore. And its even better when it has a meaning like that behind it. You could pair it with a girly mn to even it out.

It reminds me of Drew Barrymore, who I really like. I say go for it! :) I would probably give her a pretty feminine mn to balance it out.

I also thought of Andrea as a possibility. GL!

I like Drew for a girl too. I think its really cute. Maybe if you're concerned she won't like it you can give her a longer first name like Drucilla and she can have an option.

I have a little girl whom we named Alexandria Rose, and shorten it to Alex, which is a very boyish name. I still would not change it even when some other little kids say "that's a boy name". The name is in the meaning and what you like. Also, my cousin recently named her little girl Drew Elisabeth, and I think it's abosolutely adorable. If your still worried, maybe you should pick a femine middle name, then later if your concerned you can combine them for a nick name?
Good luck!!

My son is named Drew!!!! So obviously I love that name, but I hope he doesn't end up in a classroom full of female Drews someday. :) I wanted to name him Peyton, but now everyone is naming their girls Peyton too. Oh well. I love the name, but their aren't any good nicknames for Drew, and I love nicknames. My family either calls him Drewey or Drewster or Drewsky (as in Brewsky. My brother came up with that one). I've heard of more girls named Andie or Andi though. That is a nickname for Andrew. Whatever you decide will be good though. Good luck!
