Due in Feb...can't agree on a name!
| Sun, 01-09-2005 - 7:50pm |
My husband and I cannot agree on a name for our 2nd daughter due this Feb. Our first daughter's name is Brooklyn...we had a very hard time agreeing on that too. Anyway, I like sort of different names ex: Presley, Hadley, Sadie, Eliza. He likes common names like Hannah and Caitlyn. The only name that I kind of like that he does is Macey. I think it's cute but don't love it. Besides, his sister's name is Tracie. Does anyone have any suggestions? I just dont' want to settle on something that I don't really love. Thanks!

Oh, I love Sadie and Eliza. Pooh on your hubby :-).
I'm with you on Hannah and Caitlin...too many of them, and the names are just getting sort of boring because of it, even though they're both pretty. If you decide to settle on one of them, what about Hana? I like this spelling a little better, and it's from The English Patient. It seems to make it a little less of a little-girl name and more of a name that will grow with her. And, I think Brooklyn and Caitlyn might be a little much. I'm not crazy about Presley, but only because my cousin has a dog with that name :-).
What about Caroline, Stella, Ella, Meg, Tess, Sophie, Sophia, Sabrina, Sylvie, Anabel, Anabella, Moira, Julia, Lucia, or Isadora?
Good luck, and let us know which ones you like!
Oh Sadie and Eliza are both names I love! I like Macy as well, really don't like Presley, Hadley, Hannah or Caitlyn. Some other ideas for you:
Paige
Georgia
Lily
Noelle
Mia
Amelia
Leah
Piper
Delaney
Lucy
Elise
Bridget
I really like Sadie as well. I like Eliza too, but cant stop think about Eliza from the Thornberrys. (Not that, that would be a bad thing.) I also like Hadley from your list. And agree with everyone else with Presley. Hannah and Caitlyn are way to overused, so maybe you can talk hubby out of those. LOL
The first named that popped in my head when I heard Brooklyn, was Jaysa/Jaisa. I think it goes together, and it is not a common name. More suggestions for you are: Anastasia, Kentlea/Kentlee, Amaya, Caris/Karis, Mattea, Annika, Neva, Natalia, Karrington, Karley, Tyra, Ivy, Jenna, and Mikah
How about:
Nadine
Nerissa
Marina
Gia
Maya
Mia
Carina
Crisandra
Vanessa
Caroline
Arianna
Meredith
Aliza
Hope these help

Those are all a little "different," but I have classic taste and they still appeal to me
I wouldn't go with Macey if he has a sister named Tracie. There isn't really any on your list that I'm very crazy for, but of the lot I'd probably pick Presley. I think it matches up best with the style of Brooklyn. Hadley - I knew a really really bad guy once whose last name was that, so I can barely even stand to see it in print, so that certainly colors my view on that one. It's much too last-namey though, and certainly not a bit feminine. Sadie, - sorry, I responded this to someone else recently, I bet I know a dozen dogs with that name - in the old days it was a nickname for Sarah and I had several elderly aunts named Sarah who went by Sadie. Eliza - aaah, it's just another Elizabeth. how about Elise. that alternative to Elizabeth I like. Hannah is very traditional to match up with Brooklyn, Caitlyn way too popular.
here are some others I think are a little different, could match up with Brooklyn.
Ariel, Carissa, Delaney, Dannah (less traditional than Hannah, same sound)Erica, Hilary, Janna (ditto Hannah, but I don't care for an h on the end of this one), Jocelyn (if you would like the same ending), Jillian, Johanna (now there's another twist on Hannah which spruces it up), Kyndle (more feminine than Kendall, really cute I think), Mallory, Mackenzie, Marissa, Natasha, Piper (yes, this is last-namey, but it's cute, makes you think of a very spunky little girl, to me would be perfect with Brooklyn), Rayna, Reegan or Raegan, Rhiannon, Sienna, Samara, Teegan or Taegan, Whitney.
good luck
What about Ainsley? My friend used it and I think it is darling.
