Elizabeth - too old-fashioned?

Lately I've been tossing around the idea of naming my dd Elizabeth, but I'm wondering if that is too old-fashioned? If I did use Elizabeth, I would use the nickname Ellie.

Are there any other girl names out there that use Ellie as a nickname? I don't really like Eleanor very much. Our last name is Rask.

Thank you! I really appreciate it.

I love Elizabeth! Ellie is a very cute nickname for it, and it sounds great with your last name.

I love the nn Libby for Elizabeth. I am thinking about just Libby for a name.

I think that Elizabeth is beautiful! I don't think that name will EVER be considered out-of-date, out-of-style, etc. It is a classic.

I just met a little girl whos first name was Elizabeth and the called her EB. I thought it was adorable.

Other names with Ellie NN.

Eliana

I wouldn't say old fashioned, but in my opinion, it has been used enough that it doesn't feel that fresh. That may be because there are at least one or two Elizabeth's (either first name, middle name, or related name (e.g. Beth)) in each generation of my family, so I am probably biased. :) There are lots of nice names that are derived from Elizabeth that are less common, and that one can use to get the nn Ellie.

I feel i have to speak up for the Elizabeth's out there! Technically, that is my name, although i normally go by Liz or Lizzy. I feel that Elizabeth is an old fashioned name, but i love it because of that and because of how classic the name is. It just always sounds so elegant and beautiful to me. I do love history, and my view on my name may be based on that, but i really do love it. In high school, i remember that i was one of a few Elizabeths in the grade, but it never made that much of a difference, and there were multiples of almost every name. I don't know if this made any difference, but i thought i'd add my opinion. It is a beautiful name though, and i think both the name and the nickname go very well with your last name.

Elizabeth is old-fashioned in that it's been around forever, but it's more of a "classic" in that it never went out of style.

but the problem to me, is there are just way too many of them, every age group. too common. and Ellie is a very common nickname now - for a lot of names apparently. I don't like Eleanor either, or Ella.

how about Elise. a little fresher than Elizabeth.

good luck
