Hi. Newbie here. I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on the name Elodie(girl of course)? I love the sound but not crazy about the spelling. Ellody still doesn't do it for me. I really like the sound but am considering tossing it off the list due to spelling. Does anyone else like this name and have any other spellings? Also on my girl list is Adriana and Adrienne.
Thanks!!!!

I really like Elodie! It's the French version of the saint, Elodia. I have to say, I much prefer Elodie to Elodia! The name is derived from the Gothic elements 'ali' meaning foreign & 'od' meaning riches or wealth. I think it's lovely to look at and lyrical to say.

I'd use it!

I really like Elodie! I think it is really pretty! Maybe you could spell it Eladie or Elady with an a instead, it would still be the same pronunciation.

I assume you're planning for the pronunciation to be like Melody, but without the M. but when I first saw it I saw it as E-LOAD-ee - with the long O and accent on that middle syllable.

I think you'd be opening up to lots of mispronuncations and "what's her name????" questions. I don't recommend it.

I like Adriana

good luck

I think Elodie is very pretty, but I prefer Adriana. If you do use Elodie, please don't change the spelling.

I'm not mad on Adriana, no offence, it seems quite masculine. As I said before, I love Elodie! Eloise is nice too. I like E names, but we couldn't have one because our second name starts with E and it was impossible to pronounce!!!

How about the spelling Ellady? Then it could be shortened to Ella, if you like. I like the spelling Ellody better than Elodie. I wasn't sure how to see it when I first read it as Elodie, looks kind of funny. Good luck.
