Emery/Emory boy or girl?

I was lurking and looking for boy names. My maiden name is Emery and have loved the idea of using it for a boy's first or middle name. But, recently, I have heard of 2 or 3 girls named Emery. Do you think it is a boy or girl's name?

Also, what do you guys think if our second boy doesn't have an "M" name. Both my name and my husband's begin with M. Our son is named Walter Maxwell, but we call him "Max". Do you think #2 will fell left out if he isn't an M? If you do, can you give me some suggestions on M names, because I can't find any other ones I like.>

TIA

I thought boy name when i first saw emory ( i like either spelling.) and i don't think it would be a huge deal if your second son doesn't have an M name, especially since Max is the MN, not the first. congrats! sarah

I would say boy name. As for feeling left out, who knows! But with the "Em" sound in the beginning it comes close!

I would say boy name, because it sounds like one to me, however I have only met two little Emerys and they were both girls. I mught have it a mn for that reason. As for other M names, contiue the tradition only if you want, I don't think your child will feel lsft out. Some suggestions if you want to use M

I like Emory or Emery for a boy or a girl.

I have an old friend (girl) whose name is Emmery...Also, an ex-boyfriend's grandpa is named Emery so it obviously can go either way, but I'm more partial to the feminine use...Possibly because I grew up with the girl and was just used to it being HER name. About the "M" name thing...I personally think it's a bit cheesey when parents give their children names that start with the same letters...I think your new baby will be perfectly fine without an "M" name :o)

I know of 3 kids named Emery/Emory.Two are girls and 1 is a boy. They are all named the name because it is a family name or maiden name.I love it for a boy or girl.

Emery is definitely unisex in my eyes, I don't see it as being either a boy or girls name, I think it really works for both.
