Etiquette when naming baby

Hi there, I'm new here. Just wondering what is acceptable? One of my best friends recently had her baby, and named her Ava. I'm due to have a wee girl soon, and I've always said I would call my first girl Ayla, as I have loved that name since I was young.I don't want to talk it over too much with her, as I don't want to cause any unneccesary worry for her - Lord knows that with a new baby around she doesn't need that! Just wondering if it would be looked upon badly if I did name my daughter Ayla when it sounds so similar to Ava. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I say name your baby whatever you'd like! When I was pregnant with our firstborn, we planned to name her "Danielle." A very good friend found out she was pregnant and called me to say "Would you mind if it's a girl if we name our dd Danielle too?!" Well, of course not!! So there's two Danielles! I do think it would be confusing, however, if it was a sister or sister-in-law wanting to name their children the same names (two cousins in the same family with the same name)... that would be confusing.
Is Ayla pronounced with a long A? It's sounds pretty!

I wouldn't worry about it. They are different names.
