your vote?
Evan Matthew was the overwhelming winner in our boy name poll. I had posted before about the fact that it is close to DH's name, and the responses were wishy-washy, so I thought I would ask your opinion one more time so I can pass the information along to DH (who is making the final decision). DH's name is Kevin, so Evan is really close to that. However, DS#1 is Isaac, and I think it would be rare to hear just DS#2 and DH's names together. So, our family would be Kevin, Janice, Isaac and Evan. How does that sound to you? Does it change your vote that DH's name is Kevin? What would you change your vote to if it does (Ethan or Jonathan)?
FWIW, I love the name Evan and hope that it isn't too big of a deal, but I want to be sure.

I like your choice of Evan Matthew and I don't see that it would be problem with you DH being Kevin. If you love it then go ahead and use it.

I would not use it, I think it is way too close. When he is older and someone calls on the phone Evan and Kevin are going to sound awfully alike. Also yelled across the house they will be confused for each other.
I had a good friend with a DD Madison, nn Maddie. Their dog, who came before the DD, was named Addie. The confusion caused by having a Maddy, Addie and Daddy in the house was immense.
I would consider Ethan or Jonathan and see which one you love best. My vote would go to Jonathan.
Hi,
We're having simliar "trouble" with our son's name. Our choices are Owen, Ian and Evan(though really for me it's between Ian and Owen). Ian is very close to our DD Lillian, but as you say it would become one of the family and not necessarily clash so much.
As an outsider I would say don't go with Evan since it is so close to Kevin, but knowing a little of what you're going through I udnerstand that in the end it may not be that big of a deal. At least they'd have different initials. I know it's hard at Dh's family with his dad being Gary and him Jared, but really it's not that difficult.
Do what you love!

(PS my dh is deciding also, so I don't know which one we're having!)
I must say that even though I like the name Evan, I think it rhymes too closely with Kevin. Even if you don't use the names together in a sentence very often, people may be unclear if you said 'Kevin' or 'Evan'.
Just my opinion. Can you change your husband's name? (just kidding!)
To me, all that a poll proves is which name is most popular, not necessarily which is the best.
AJ, enjoying life with C.
Sorry I missed your poll.
I love the name Evan, and we have chosen it already if our next child is a boy. However, if my DH's name were Kevin, I wouldn't go with it. I also love Ethan and I think it would sound great with Isaac. Jonathan also goes well with Isaac. My DH is Jonathan, and goes by Jon. It seems that everyone I know has a husband named Jon/John, but in your son's generation, that will probably not be the case. (There may actually be more Ethans and Evans!)
