Evie, Cicely or Cecelia?

1st choice: Jane Evangeline (Evie) - all family names. Jane = mom and great-aunt; Evangeline = combination of aunt Evelyn (died of Alzheimer's in 1992) and grandmother Josephine (also died in 1992).

But now also liking ...

Cicely Rebecca - Rebecca was my former middle name before marriage. I'm afraid this one is slightly lispy ... but I do like Cicely with our last name, too (Alexander) ... maybe she could be a sister if we ever have two girls.

Cecelia Raye (Celia for nn) - Ray was my dad's name - he passed away Memorial Day. But I live in the south and using "Ray/Rae" is sort of a cliche, dontcha think?

I guess either of the last two could be a good sibling name if we have two girls?

Thanks for the opinions!

I love Cecelia and also Jane. My vote would be for Cecelia Jane or Jane Cecelia, but alas, that is not what you asked. Sounds like you have made up your mind and Jane Evangeline is a fine name. I would actually love to see her called Jane rather than Evie. Evie is just too cutesie/little girly for me. Jane is great for a little girl or grown woman.

Good Luck!

HI Stephanie -

They are all great names. I think I like Jane Evangeline first(not sure why)

I also really like Cecilia Rae. Cecily Rebecca is ok , but I like the other 2 a little better. Good Luck to you & Keep us posted!

They are all beautiful names, but Jane Evangeline is my favourite. It sounds so classy and timeless. I would prefer just calling her Jane, but Evie is nice as well. They are all great names though.

I like Cecelia, and you could also use Cecily (any spelling, but really close to Cicely) for a nn if you wanted. Also thought I'd mention that my Aunt Raeline (said Ray-leen) was named after my grandfather Raymond/Ray, so that's another option for you if you'd like to honor your father. I've also seen Raelyn.

My husband and I are expecting our first child in July, and although we don't know the sex, we really like Celia for a girl. My youngest sister is named Rachel and she thinks that Celia Rae would be a perfect chose, however, I don't think that we will be adding a middle name. My name is Rebecca, so of course I won't use it.

Rather than making a choice for you as your selection isn't mine, I thought I would add some others for consideration.

How about Evaline or Joseva since you are combining names. That gives you a couple others to consider.

Jane - variants could include Janet, Janine, Janaye (pronounced Jan Eye). Nothing wrong with Jane, mind you.

Joseva? Janaye? Huh?
I study names all the time for characters I write and I've never seen these ... interesting.
