I love Ezekiel, nickname Zeke. My family pretty much hates it, and my husband doesn't LOVE it, but doesn't hate it either.

I really like it. I think it is nice, strong, and underused. Who cares if your family likes it or not? It will grow on them- this isn't their child. I do think it is important, however, that you husband loves it. It is his child as well after all and it only seems fair to find a name that you equally love.

The name itself gets thumbs up from me!

One of my friend's named her son that. He is 16 months old now. :) I think it is a great name!

I think it's alright. Not to be mean or anything but this name just makes me think of a nerdy kid and I don't know why. Maybe that's how your family sees it too.

I really like this one. With our last baby (who turned out to be a girl) DH and I were tussling because I loved Ezra and he loved Ezekiel, so it was funny to see those two names posted side by side today.

I really like this and give it a thumbs up, it sounds so fresh next to all the Braydens and Jacksons out there.

I, too, know someone who used it about a year ago, and it's a great name. I can't believe it isn't more popular than it is.

I think it's cute. (Though to be honest the first thing I think of when I hear Zeke is a dog's name but I'm sure some people think the same thing of my son's name Cooper.)

My husband went to school with a guy named Ezekiel who went by E.Z. pronounced Easy. I think that's totally cute too.

I think it's ok. I don't love it, but maybe that's because the name and nn seem to have very different, clashing feels to them. Ezekiel is very Biblical/puritan sounding. I imagine Ezekiel to be an old man with white hair and a broad brim to his hat. Zeke, on the other hand, sounds like a surfer/skater/gamer, very young and cool, a bit of a rebel. I am willing to admit, though, that I don't know any Ezekiels personally, and with the increase in popularity of the older biblical/puritan names, my old man associations may change in the next few years. By the way, I'm wondering what the basis is for your family's objection. Are they worried that Ezekiel sounds too "out there" or do they just not like the name?
