What about Edie or Eydie (as in Eydie Gormé from the old musical act Steve and Eydie). It is a nickname for Edith, although I think it stands alone quite well.

It is pronounced with the long e sound, EE-dee.

Edie Alise or Edie Alaina are pretty.

Hi Dawn,

I think it's great that you want to honour your father :o) By the way, what was his middle name/nickname, as these may yield some ideas too.

I like the previous poster's idea of Teddy or a full name with that nn e.g. Theodora, Theda. Eden is also sweet.

Here are some more ideas:

Elaine came up with a *great* list, so I can't think of anything to add, but wanted to put a good word in for Edda- I find it beautiful!

Ditto this...and I think another poster was actually considering Eddah for her soon-to-arrive daughter. It's charming.
