Ok, it sounds like there's a lot more going on here than just your baby's name. I personally don't think that you are demasculizing your bf by not letting him choose the name, but I know in some cultures the man chooses the name for a son. Is he from another culture/background with that tradition?

Not knowing the details of the situation, I do think that both parents should have a say in a child's name. Tell him that you love the name Hunter Thomas and see what he thinks.

Perhaps there's a compromise - you get your first name and he gets to choose a middle name? Something like that?

I do think it takes more discussion.

try to find a name you agree on but keep in mind if he is willing to leave you over a name, he may not be around to dis the name hunter thomas...a lovely, manly name for any boy.
