What does everyone think of Fiona. I am not pregnant, just like to think about names and right now for a boy I am LOVING Rowan Alexander. I want to go with other Celtic names to go with it, but am having a hard time finding something I love.
Fiona could definetly grow on me. It would probably be Fiona Grace, with Grace being a family name like Alexander. Rowan Alexander and Fiona Grace? Do they go well together?
Others I have considered:
Isla- like the sound of it, but no good nn's!
Annabel- Maybe a bit too cutesy for me and some websites say it is Celtic and others say its not...?
Callum- love the name, but do Rowan and Callum go well together?
Ian- a bit too plain

When I first started with this board I didn't like Fiona at all. Thought it sounded very old fashioned but the more I hear it the more I like it. I can fully understand you using Grace because of family but I really don't care for it with Fiona. Not sure why. I guess because they are totally different types of names. I expected something more Celtic. Rowan Alexander is great together. I'm glad that you like Rowan instead of Roan. I think the spelling on it is confusing and you would constantly be prononcing it to everyone. Fiona and Rowan sound wonderful together.
Isla is very pretty too and simple. I wouldn't want a nn for it because it's sweet just the way it is. The only time I would want a nn is if I wanted to basically shorten a name. Isla is wonderful for all ages. Sweet Grandma Isla.
I also like Annabel. I don't think it's cutsie at all. My grandmothers middle name was Arabelle and so I can definately see it on a grown woman.
I don't really care for Callum. Not enough personality to it I guess. Ian has never been big on my list because the only ones I knew were boring and troublemakers. I hate it when an association ruins a name for me but it did. It is also used to much I think. Kind of a preppy name around here. Sorry!
Fiona fan here, so I'm biased!
Fiona and Rowan are great together, and I think family mn are a great way to give a child "roots."
If I were you, I'd look no further. Very good choices, and this coming from a very harsh name critic!
Good luck, Ginger

Love Fiona Grace as well as Celtic names. Unfortunately my dh doesn't like Celtic names. Good luck in the future naming of kids!
