Could you give me your first impression of the names I'm considering? I wonder what your impressions and experiences are of the names I'm considering. Thanks in advance!! P.S. Our last name is similar to Anthony (not Italian though, but same syllables and sound).

Girl Names:
Brynne - I like Brynne. Simply but pretty just the same
Tatum (nn Tate) - I am so not into nn. I like Tatum but why would you call her Tate?
Elena (nn Laney) - Is this E-leen-a? Or E-lane-a?
Olivia (nn Liv) - I Love Olivia but again, why call her Liv? Olivia is beautiful.
Kate - Kate to me, just Kate, is a good mn. Olivia Kate is perfect.
Boy Names:
Michael Jacob (M.J. as a nn) - Is Michael a family name? Some other M options are:Mason, Maxwell, Mitchell or Marshall.
Nathaniel (Nate or Nathan as a nn) - I am not a Nate lover!!
Jarek (Polish name, husband's ethnicity) - I do like Jarek. Something different and of husband's ethnicity, nice.)
Lucas (Luke) - I love Luke but not Lucas.
Cristian - NMS. The spelling is weird too. I would spell it Christian if you use it.
Good luck! You have some nice names to choose from.
Brynne - nms, Bryn is Welsh and male, Brynn is used for females now but the extra 'e' to make it 'pretty' just looks overembellished.
My thoughts:
Girl Names:
Brynne: NMS, seems so abrupt for some reason
Tatum (nn Tate): I really like Tatum, but Tate is all boy to me.
Elena (nn Laney): Beautiful choice
Olivia (nn Liv): nice, but oh so popular
Kate: like it better as a nn, even then I know 12 babies born in the last year with Kate as a fn or mn.
Boy Names:
Michael Jacob (M.J. as a nn): Michael I like, MJ is awful
Nathaniel (Nate or Nathan as a nn): If there is a "th" in your ln this might be too much
Jarek (Polish name, husband's ethnicity): NMS
Lucas (Luke): Love Lucas and Luke
Cristian: Much prefer the Christian spelling, even them I'm not a fan
Brynne Anthony (I'm using your "almost" last name to see how it sounds) Don't love Brynne. Don't love the sound of it and it would be hard to always have to spell it
Tatum - think of Tatum O'Neil - not a good association
Elena Anthony - too many vowel sounds, Laney Anthony - too sing-songy because of the ending Y sounds.
Olivia Anthony - doesn't sound as vowel-y as Elena Anthony. Olivia is pretty popular right now. Not really my style, but it sounds fine.
Kate Anthony - my favorite. Kate is also very popular, but less trendy than Olivia. I would give her a more formal name - Kathleen or Katherine.
Michael Anthony - MJ Anthony. This is fine. I always read that Michael is one of the most popular names, but I really don't run into that many little Michaels.
Nathaniel, Nate, Nathan - pretty popular, but fine.
Jarek - Kind of a harsh-sounding name and hard to spell. I think this one would get mistaken for Jared.
Lucas Anthony, Luke Anthony. The sound of Lucas has always hurt my ears. Maybe because it rhymes with mucus! Luke is fine. I would use that as first name, rather than Lucas.
Cristian Anthony - please spell it Christian so it's a little easier for him. This is also getting somewhat popular. I don't love it, but it's fine.
I love Elena and Olivia for the girls.
I love Michael and Jarek, I like Lucas a little bit too.
:O)
Brynne - I don't see the point of the e on the end
Tatum (nn Tate)- not for a girl
Elena (nn Laney) - nice, my favorite from your list
Olivia (nn Liv) - ok
Kate - as a nn only
Michael Jacob (M.J. as a nn) - ok, but kind of boring
Nathaniel (Nate or Nathan as a nn) - nice
Jarek (Polish name, husband's ethnicity) - nice, I'm assuming its pronounced "jair-ik"
Lucas (Luke) - my favorite from your list
Cristian - what if he's not a Christian?
Hope this helps

Names I like:
Thank you all for your input! It is so helpful. It has affirmed most of my original positive and negative feelings. I know you can't please everyone, but it seems overall you agree that I've made some decent choices.
I agree with responses about the name Cristian, both in the religious sense and spelling. The reason I left out the H in my spelling is because Christian is a religion (my religion actually, but I'm not very religious, so I don't really like the religious association). I appreciate the feedback and I don't think I'll consider that name for a son.
My husband's grandfather's name was Michael, but it's been used for other boys in the family, so I wouldn't necessarily want him to be called Michael all the time. That's why I thought M.J. would be nice. Michael has always been one of my favorite names.
Also, when I plan to use a nickname, it's just out of affection, not necessarily the name they go by, or introduce themselves as. Myself, having a one syllable name, Beth, I always wanted a nickname. I added Kate and Brynne to the list with hesitation based on that, but I've always loved those names as they are, without a longer name to base them from. I don't know that I would name my child a one syllable name though.
As for the name Jarek, I like the name but I also considered that he might be called Jerry, which I don't like, as well as that it might sound like jerk! I am glad you also pointed that out, and it's not just me that thinks so. It definately helps in my decision.
I love the name Tatum and my husband does not, so I hope someday someone brings it back into use, as I've never met a Tatum, or a Tate, before! I would be happy if I had that name, or any of the names on my list, and that is pretty much how I choose the names for a baby girl.
Also, thank you to the person who gave me all of the Polish name options. I love many of them and will consider them when choosing a name. It's nice to see the Polish option for names I'm considering.
Thanks again for all of your advice! It really has been so helpful!
Beth
