welcome to the board! If you want to run some names by us or tell us what type of names you like, we'd love to help. Boys names always seem tricky to me as well :) A few boys names that I like are Weston, Beckett, Wyatt, Declan, Max, and Spencer.
Yes, please let us know what styles of names you like ... trendy, traditional, classic, etc. That would allow us to give better advice! Maybe you could list some names you already have considered.
From what you've said, Ava is probably a good choice for you. It's simple, familiar and popular, although I'm not sure how popular you'd be comfortable with. If you want something people won't have trouble pronouncing but popularity is a slight concern, Ava also works well as a double name (especially since you mentioned your dh is Southern). ;)
You could pair it with another familiar/simple name ...
Ava Claire Ava Pearl Ava Lily Ava Lucille Ava Jean
You get the idea.
Or you could use a family surname (maybe your ln?). I do put my ln, by the way, but it's McCormick (certainly not as common as, say, Smith, but still not so unusual that it's too much info). ;)
As to boy names, if he definitely wants to be able to use an initial nn, why not come up with a list of possible initials (J.T., C.J., A.J., etc.) and then make a list of names you like that begin with those letters, including any family names you might want to use, and then ask for any other suggestions that seem to fit with your style?
