First Time User Looking for Name Help

Hi, this is the first time I have used the message board. I decided to go ahead and post after reading everyone's great suggestions on names. I am looking for help myself. I have one son, eight months old and we have found ourselves expecting a second child. The only problem is...we had a really difficult time with names the first time around, especially boys names.

My Husband's name is unque enough, Quinn and my name is Nichole our son's name is unique and fun and we want the second to be the same (Colter Titan Vance). So far for a girl I like the following

Riley
Peyton
Ashlyn

But what about middles...we have no traditions to follow

For a boy
Blythe
Holden
Asher
Brayden

again I am lost for middle names

Any help in the first name categroy and the middle name category would be welcome.

Congrats to all of the moms and soon to be moms out there.

Your names are all good choices. My favorite would be Ashlyn. I do have to bring up that if you are against using overly *trendy* names, watch out because Riley, Ashlyn, and Peyton are quite common right now. I know of several Riley's in the past 3 years, 2 Ashlyns, and so far only 1 Peyton. But, as I always say, if you LOVE the name, than use it! My son is Brendan and no matter where we go there is ALWAYS another Brendan....and ya know what? I don't care because I loved his name and was going to use it no matter what!!!!

As far as the boys names go:

Blythe--I had never heard this name used for a boy so I can't say its my first choice
Holden--like it lots!
Asher--only have known 1 Asher in my life and that was years ago, so nice and unique!
Brayden--LOVE IT! Had I not already had a Brendan, I would consider that if we had another boy.

Good luck!

Congratulations! I love the names you have selected. Holden is one of my favorites for a boy. How about Holden Blythe?

For a girl, I love Ashlyn. Ashlyn Riley sounds great!

Best of luck!

Oh. . . Where in Arizona do you live? I used to live in Yuma.

The names:
Riley
Peyton
Ashlyn
are getting quite popular, so I wouldn't call them unique. I'd call the first two trendy.

For a boy, Blythe strikes me as quite feminine. Holden is fine (I know one or two). I just don't like the sound of Asher, and Brayden looks and sounds quite trendy and not very sophisticated.

Well, if I were you first thing I'd do is have Riley and Blythe switch lists :-) lol Riley can be considered unisex but I've never seen a boy named Blythe.

I like Peyton w/ big brother Colter, and Asher for a boy.

I'll leave the middle name up to the others :) I'm terrible at middles!

Good luck!

Well, Blythe is one of my very favorite names for a girl (my second choice for a daughter, actually). I've never heard it for a boy, but the gender-bending doesn't bother you, I suppose it could work for a boy also. Riley, Peyton and Ashlyn all seem trendy to me rather than unique. You might be better off using Blythe for a girl. I also really like Aisling (an Irish name pronounced like Ashlyn that is a little more unique since it avoids the Ash- prefix that is so similar to Ashley). Aisling has long been a favorite of mine, and I've always toyed with using Aisling Blythe as a combination.

For a boy, I love Holden and I think it matches very well with Colter. I like Asher and Brayden as well, but I think Holden is a better match with Colter. What about Holden Tate?

I like Ashlyn for the girl name. Maybe Ashlyn Nichole after yourself or use your middle name for her middle name. I like Asher for the boy name (sounds good together with Colter's name).

Suggestion: I have 2 boys and expecting a third in March. My first son is Brenden Edward (middle name same as hubby's), 2nd son is Spencer Reed (Re from my middle name of Renee and ed from hubby's Edward). Maybe try combining middle names to come up with a unique middle. I'll be using Renee if this one is a girl for the middle and Jude for the middle if it's a boy using the Ju from my first name Julie and ed again from hubby's Edward. I figure if I don't ever get a girl at least my boys will have part of my
name(s) too. Good Luck!

My husband is from Yuma but we live in Gilbert now. Yuma has grown leaps and bounds you wouldn't recognize it. However, it still has all of the small town qualities. Thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe I am pernouncing Blythe wrong? It sounds like a male name to me, what do I know. Should it sound like i like Blithe? If I am confused maybe I should stay away from it. I don't keep up on the names so the ones I thought were original aren't ouch!!!

Bl - eye - th ? There is an actress named Blythe Danner - she is Gwyneth Paltrow's mother - with that name. I could be wrong myself but I'm pretty sure it's a girl's name only :)
