Just saw the birth announcement for a friend's friend's first son:
James Walter Conrad, II, called June (yes, that says June)
Father is James, goes by Jim, and while I'm not positive of his mn I'm pretty sure they're confused about the whole Jr./II thing here. Or maybe that's me? LOL Not in the mood to look it up at the moment, but I thought Jr. was reserved for children with the same exact given name as the father and II was to denote a child with the same exact name as another relative (grandfather or uncle, for example).
If the little tyke should be either James Walter Conrad, Jr. or no suffix at all (and I'm not just nuts), why the heck wouldn't they have at least looked into that before putting it on the birth certificate? I'm second-guessing myself here, but I just think it's odd if they chose the suffix of their choice, kind of on a whim, if you will. ;)
Anyway, just a few things about the name choice that struck me as interesting. Maybe I'm just in a mood.
Enjoy, either way!

I think you're right about the traditional rules for junior vs. II but I think the rules have loosened up.
My dh and his son & grandson are all
Mandie
Wow! Small world. ;)
Do you know if he's named for his grandfather as well (because of the II)? Like I said, I don't personally know them, just that the dad is also James, so I was so curious! When I first saw the nn June I just assumed it was kind of short for Junior, but then I went back and saw they didn't use Jr. so I wasn't sure if there was a story behind that either. At first I read it as Jude, since we've been seeing that a lot recently, but then further down I saw it was June, so I was intrigued. LOL
Did she post any pics, btw, because he was simply adorable in the ones I saw? ;)

Here is the link to her birth announcement. It looks like the picture link no longer works but I remember seeing the pictures earlier this week.
