Friend's baby boy turns out to be a GIRL

My sister's lifelong best friend just had her baby today. She had a few ultrasounds and every time they saw "something" and said it was 100% undoubtedly a boy. Guess what? When he came out, there wasn't actually anything "down there!" Her already named, already purchased all the little boy things baby turned out to be another girl (she already has one daughter -- Savannah Irene or Savannah Evelyn ... can't remember if the mn is her mom's or grandmother's LOL). Anyway, I know they're supposed to be the most accurate at predicting the gender if it's a boy they're predicting (since they have to actually see something in that case), so I thought that was pretty funny. (And thus the reason for posting my own boy list ... just in case they're wrong about this little gal LOL).
I do have to wonder if she had a back-up girl name in mind, because she named her Hannah Renee (Renee is her own mn). Very similar to Savannah, though, so I kind of think she may have been a little flustered at the surprise and just gone with a girls name she liked (maybe didn't have a chance to think it through?). Guess I'll find out when we go see her tomorrow!
Anyway, just thought it was an interesting story (so everyone get your back-up lists out just in case LOL)!

Oops!!
This happened to a good friend of mine as well! Her mother had to run out and buy something for the baby to wear in the hospital because she'd only packed boy stuff!!
LOL at Rainbow Brite hehehe. ;)
I'd have to say that Jason fit perfectly with Jennifer, though. Isn't that a baby name book? Beyond Jennifer and Jason... LOL
Good choice. ;)

haha. that is funny. I don't know what I would do if they told me it was a boy/girl and it turned out to be a girl/boy! I would be extremely flustered too!

P.S. Please reply to my message that is posted under the boys section! I need a name by Tuesday the 21st!
OMG! I have heard of that happening before, but only when they say its a girl and it turns out to be a boy. Since finding out that we are having our third boy, I have heard numerous times from people, "Well, ya never know, the ultrasound could be wrong." (Not a comment I like because there is nothing wrong with having a 3rd boy!!) My response has always been, "when its a boy, most likely they aren't wrong!" But now, WOW...it has me thinking! I have only had 1 ultrasound at 18 weeks and none since. I did a girl poll *just for fun* a few weeks ago, maybe I should start a new one.........
I do agree with you though, it surprises me that they used Savannah and Hannah. Very very close sounding names. I do have to ask though, what emotions are they going thru?? To expect boy all this time, then be told girl, it must be really weird. NOt that they aren't completely happy about having a healthy baby girl, but I would think they must have some feelings going on there, know what I mean?? Or maybe I'm just over-thinking it?

I know Theresa! That's exactly what I thought was so odd ... to have them see "something" there, they usually say a boy prediction is very accurate. Wonder what they really saw? LOL This will (supposedly) be our third girl, and they have been right every time so far, but I can't imagine how they must feel having thought they were having a boy all these months and winding up with a girl. Imagine that ... here HE comes - he's a GIRL! ROFL Talk about a last-minute switch hehe. I should hopefully be seeing her sometime today, so I guess we'll find out how that went. ;)

I can just imagine telling the doctor "you have the wrong baby ... mine was supposed to be a girl!" LOL
Just got back from seeing my friend and her daughter (who is adorable, btw!), and she said she had a similar reaction. Her fiance was so excited, because apparently he'd wanted a girl from the start, that he called everyone he knew AND everyone in her cell phone's memory to tell them that "he has a vagina! he's a girl!!!" LOL Apparently, some of those numbers were pretty old, because she got a few callbacks who left messages informing them that they had the wrong number "but congratulations on your daughter's vagina anyway!" ROFL Just thought that was hilarious. ;)
Both mother and (surprise) daughter are doing great, and big sister Savannah couldn't be happier with her new baby sister! :)
