Full Name for "Laney"?

My husband and I really like the name Laney, however, I'm not sure if I want to use it as a full name or a nickname. What do you think of the name Laney as a full name, and what other names could we use it as a nn for? The only ones I can think of are Delaney and Elena.

I love the name Laney, too! I had thought whether I would want it short for Elayna or just use Laney, too. I think either way would work fine. Delaney is another great choice, one that I had not thought of.

If we had chosen Aveline, we would have used the nn Lanie, so I think the same is true of many other -line ending names as well -- Madeline, Adeline, etc. (After all, nns can come from anywhere, so I wouldn't worry about it being a "stretch" KWIM?). There's also variations or similar names to the ones already mentioned you might like better ... Delaine, Delaina, Alaina, Alanna(h), Elaine, Helaina, Helana, Madeleine, Magdaleine, Magdalena, Dylana, etc. HTH!

My 3 1/2 year old daughter's nicknames are Lainie and Laina. Her full name is Lillaina. Besides Lillaina being a beautiful name, I liked the idea that there were plenty of nicknames she could have, from Lilly, Lill, Lilla, Laine, Lainie, and Laina. I also liked that she could have some say in what she wanted to be called when she got older. Also if there were a lot of "Laney"s and "Lilly"s in her classes, she could be called something a little more unique than "Lanie B." Also, she has individual nicknames that certain family members use (like her little sister--"Laina" and her great-grandpa--"Lily").
Hopefully this gives you a little insight and help you make your decision on whether to use Laney (which is what I originally liked too) as a full name or a nickname.
